What Tyres?

What make/model of tyres do you commonly use on a Corrado? Mine's currently fitted with Pirelli P6000's (195 50 R15). Should I stick with them or choose something else?

I've heard that Bridgestone Potenza 020's I think are the best? I'm looking for new tyres also but couldn't find these for my Corrado on the net, anyone know anywhere else I can get them?

i use toyo proxes T1S - 205 50 15's

 

55 quid each fitted. the place that fits them is on the same industrial estate as where i work so its handy.

the tyres are real good too.

Yeah the F1 GSD3s are very good. They give a good ride too as they're nice and soft.

 

I would say they have a definite edge in wet weather over other brands.

 

Just avoid cheapy rubbish and remoulds and you'll be fine. The differences between brands aren't as huge as they used to be, so a lot of it comes down to personal preference.

A lot depends on what you want from a tyre. The F1 GSD3s are supposed to give the best dry and wet weather grip compromise, but don't buy them if you are looking for a hard wearing tyre! They are quite a soft compound and will wear out much quicker than your P6000s.

I've got yokohamas on my golf and they are pretty soft too. Great grip in the dry with them though.

I had Avon ZZ1 fitted to replace 4 odd tyres of the wrong profile when I bought my C and almost papped myself at every corner. I complained to Avon direct and surprisingly they gave me a set of ZZ3's before release. Much improved, dry performance outstanding in comparison but I was still not confident enough to drive spiritedly in the wet. Now have Bridgestone S02's on the front and waiting for the ZZ3's to wear out on the back, even better. Hope I can still get some S02's when they do as the S03's seem to have mixed reviews. Any comments on S02 vs S03 would be interesting

I recommend Bridgestone's Potenza RE720, great tyre, better than the F1's IMO :)

Can'y say I've been disappointed with my Bridgestones. Had S02's and then S03's and found them great in the wet. Got them from Micheldever Tyres halfway down the M3.

I work for Bridgestone even though my car is on a combination of Avon's and some dodgy budget stuff that the old owner put on. It might be time for me to use my company discount! :D

 

They really are great tyres, particularly the Potenza's I have seen the work that goes into produciing them. I used to drive on Pirelli P6000's on my old car (Ford Escort 1.3, ahem) and was quite impressed with them also (although thinking about it they were hardly tested)!

I ordered 2 Bridgestone Potenza RE720's today.

Getting them fitted tomorrow.

 

They're replacing my front set of Toyo Proxies whcih lasted...... 6,000 Miles.

93.5k in April when I got them with my BBS wheels. Speedo's now showing 99.7k!

Rear Toyos are ok though, so I'm moving them to the front.

 

Good tyre, but don't last particularly long. Hopefully the Potenzas will be better.

The Potenzas where about £10 more expensive than the Toyos.

Got the tyres on this morning. Fitted the Bridgestones to the back and moved the Toyos forward.

Waited for the roads to quiten down after work and took her for a wee blip.

 

The difference is night and day, before the tail was a wee bit twitchy. Now it's rock solid! :D

 

So far I like these tyres a lot.

Brilliant tyres. Been using them for years. Not found anything with half as good as their dry performance yet, and in the wet they are comparable to the F1, not quite as sticky but not far off.

 

I'm trialling some Toyo T1-Rs tomorrow so I'll give you my feedback on their new tyre soon. They're basically an RE720 and an F1 rolled into 1......should be good.
