kieron 0 Posted January 27, 2005 About to fit a similar set to my CLK and had a look for Corrado ones. Sure enough someone does them. Would be a nice addition to the interior I think - might even get a set for my VR6. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 93451&rd=
dinkus 10 Posted January 27, 2005 They look ok in the picture, but I bet they look pants in real life. You really need a glow pad behind the lettering so that each letter glows, rather than the light shining through perspex like thos are. Might be alright tho... Henny 0 Posted January 27, 2005 think these work like the illuminated emergency exit signs... The writing is etched into the clear material and then there's a light at the ends of the clear bits which make the clear stuff act as a light guide. When the light hits the etching it can't get through so it shows up on the lettering.. No idea how effective these'd be, and they do have the potential to look really naff and tacky... I'd have to see some in the flesh before I lobbed any money anywhere near 'em... :|
daves16v 1 Posted January 27, 2005 They're in the same boat as the blue washer jets and the under car neons................poo :pukeright: just my opinion of course :)
dinkus 10 Posted January 27, 2005 There's a bloke with an Alpina 5 series that lives near me and he's got similar light up sills, but they are completely metal and just have glowing letters in them. They're a very nice job, but they say 'Alpina' so will probably cost you 3 arms and a leg...
corradostorm 0 Posted January 27, 2005 If anyone wanted 'proper' illuminated letters I could look into it. But....they wouldn't be cheap
RadoAds 0 Posted January 27, 2005 Yeah, ive seen em on the AMG and Brabus mercs and they looked cool as fook, but merc do want about 300 quid a set for em, so a 30 quid set off ebay might be a bit...how shall i put it.....cheap!!!
kieron 0 Posted January 27, 2005 Yeah thats the babies I'm getting for my Merc. They do look good! I'll admit these ones for the Corrado are no where near as nice but still might make a good addition.
Phil K 0 Posted January 27, 2005 it would help if the text was in a different font (closer to the orriginal script) plus they are verging on chav IMO...
gibber 0 Posted January 27, 2005 Look how dark it is in the photo, I cant see them glowing up very welll to be honest
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 27, 2005 Coming from the old school of VW tuning..... that kind of cheesy add-on has no place on a Corrado imo.
