gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 26, 2005 Noticed the other day that the black paint on my sill was cracked in a couple of places (possibly in part to me putting the trolley jack sliiiiiiiiiiightly too near the centre of the sill ) - is there any specific paint I can use that will have the same texture/finish? Cheers!
gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 30, 2005 Nobody? Hmmm, might just have to go ask my friendly local bodyshop then! :)
Supercharged 2 Posted May 30, 2005 I think the people who mate Waxoil (maybe Hammerite) do a kit for this...
Furkz 0 Posted May 30, 2005 would you not need to use that slightly rubbery effect paint that helps prevents stonechips too??? (if thats called waxoil or hammerite, sorry for adding this bit) i do kno you can find that paint easily at paint shops for bodywork or motor factors
gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Cheers for the suggestions, will pop over to the motor factors nr my work today and see what they have...!
dazzyvr6 0 Posted May 31, 2005 you can buy stonechip spray in a can from halfords which is used on sills
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 31, 2005 The stuff used at the factory is a 3M rubberised primer/seam sealer....but it's rollered on to get that mottled effect. Is mottled a word? LOL! Nothing in a can will be tough enough, although 3M do do it in a can, you need loads of coats and ironically, it doesn't like curing in thick coats. I'd get some 'Greystripe' seam sealer from Halfrauds and roller it on.
StuartFZR400 0 Posted June 1, 2005 I used Hammerite on the Golf - "mottled" effect. Lasted years.
