Valuation - 1995 VR6, 83k

Recommended Posts

I was speaking with a garage yesterday but they could not give a trade price for my car as it was not listed in Glasses guide any more... Can anyone on here give me an indication of price? I appreciate that it's not straightforward without seeing the car etc, but just looking for a kind of top/bottom guide price - I looked on autotrader and the prices there are all over the place!

Details are;

1995 (M) Corrado 2.9 VR6

83k

FSH

Blackberry metallic

Black Heated Leather

Air-con

ESR

EM

EW

F/Fogs

Auto

Rear spoiler in working condition

Standard car, with the exception of 16" alloy wheels with excellent tyres

Bodywork is generally good other than a small dent on the rear wing

Yeah.. think PhatVR6 is dead on with his estimate. Nice condition, low mileage, a desirable colour, airco and black heated leather is a big bonus.

Should sell at 4.5-5k to the right person without too much trouble!

however it being an auto also makes it harder to sell on as there will be a limited market for them  ...............i'd say £4k tops i'm afraid

50 for the fiesta with gangsta tints

Agree with Jim and PhatVR6 on the price for Jims reasons. Only downer is your location will put many off.

I take it these are me selling privately prices? I am looking for the price to trade the car in at a dealer.....

Totally appreciate the fact that an auto will reflect in the price a bit, I knew that when I got it :)

Dealers always give you book value for the Corrado, which is way way way below what you would get if you sold it privately for some reason. It depends on the car you're trading up against, but I suspect you'd be lucky if you got any more than 3.5k for it at the absolute maximum.

tbh tho........knowing the dealers up here(and probably throughout the country) they would only bid up to £2k tops  ....then mark it up as a future classic(which as we all know it is) with a price tag over £5k!!!!!!

Dont accept less than £3k as trade in. It's a car buyer's market this month, I would say.

If you sell privately you can save yourself thousands - you can get, say, £4k from private sale and with cash purchase with no trade in you can get a lot off new/newish car from garage.

I know a lot of people who trade in all the time, though, they seem to think doing without the hassle of private sale is worth thousands.

it would probebly be worth putting the original speedline alloys on it for the purpose of the sale aswell mate..then you can advertise it as totally standard which always makes a difference.. you can sell the 16" wheels on ebay or whatever aswell.

well, had discussions with the other half and it looks like she is changing her car also - so we need to decide whether we have 2 cars or 1 between us.... at the moment we are thinking 1 between us so may try both cars privately 1st and once one has sold we will start looking for a replacement ;)

Definately give it a shot at private first.. to be honest, I think that looks like the kind of car people would travel for.. it does look to be in lovely condition.

It'd be criminal for that to go into trade and then end up being sold on a dealers forecourt for £2k more than you let it go for!

I'll try and get some new photos taken this week/weekend and take it from there - look out for this in the classifieds soon ;)

** now in the for sale section, with price based on current prices in atotrader ono **

cheers for all the advice

I've had it up in the classifieds here for a week now, and it's on autotrader too @ £4450 ono. this makes it the cheapest Corrado VR6 on autotrader nationally with under 100k miles.

There are cars on there with similar miles, incl auto's for more money, and most are older cars (92 - 94).

Haven't had any firm interest other than requests for photos (which have now been posted)

Anyone got any ideas as to why it's not selling? Ok, it's only a week but had no interest for either the Corrado or my fiancee's SLK and we need to sell both before we can go for our car together.

If folk are saying I'll get around £4k tops, then so be it. I'd be happy with that, but if I advertise it at £4k then folk will haggle off that, which is why I have it over that and therefore have room to negotiate with them. I may be Aberdonian, but I ain't an ogre!! :D

I'd say it's probably partly due to your location and partly due to the fact that people generally just don't seem to be buying cars at the moment :(

feken location! :D

my 16v Mk3 Golf was sold to a guy in London - easy jet flights to Aberdeen are cheap, and there is BA, BMI, Eastern Airways etc.... not to mention trains etc. I would travel to meet a genuine buyer in Edinburgh or Glasgow if it made things easier for someone and get a train back home ( would need to have my plate off the car before then though so I should get my ass in gear :D ...but this would mean no V5 as this has to be sent away when removing the plate - I'd have the green slip for the new keeper though)

It's easy enough to get up there, but you'll be surprised at the lack of willingness to travel by us southern fairies...
