Riley 0 Posted August 25, 2005 are there any uprated/named/quality speakers out there to replace the standard ones in the rear shelf supports? one of em started farting after too much 'dare' by gorillaz 8) and its now ripped all round the rubber, was gonna silicone it but thought i may as well uprate if i can? neil. Supercharged 2 Posted August 25, 2005 JBL do some that fit but due to the size of them you'll never get anything that impressive out of them... good OE type upgrade tho and makes it sound like a newer car...
Riley 0 Posted August 25, 2005 thanks m8,sounds good enough for what im after for now. :) do you know the size i need? cheers, neil.
dinkus 10 Posted August 25, 2005 6x4 I think, but have a search ;)
Riley 0 Posted August 25, 2005 aye,6x4 sounds about right  why the hell didnt i measure em? right, off to search for some car audio sites then, cheers guys. :D neil.
Henny 0 Posted August 26, 2005 most major speaker manufacturers make 6x4 speakers for this kind of application... the only thing to be aware of in a Corrado is that the space for the magnet is slightly limited... Inifinity do some REALLY nice ones... 8)
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 cheers henny  yeah, not much room if the magnet or speaker sits lower/deeper. just looking about on the net now but cant see much :( ya dont have any handy links do ya m8? cheers, neil.

MikeVR6 0 Posted August 26, 2005 I had problems getting Infinity's to line up correctly with the mounting holes. JBL's fit ok though. For both you'll have to cut away part of the trim to accommodate the magnet. If you want to be extra anal you can get the shelves from a breaker and butcher those. (that's what I did) :)
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 cheers guys 8) will check out the links. aye,i thought about chopping a bit of the holder thingy? away mike, ill do a tidy job if need be. no one got any for sale i suppose? cheers, neil.
chrishill 0 Posted August 26, 2005 think i saw some on ebay this morning...
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 oh aye ebay! in fact looking at these, theyre not bad money anyway (skint from charger work!) anyone running any of these? here? i dont know much about speakers, but im drawn to the reference infinity jobbies for some reason? :? neil. edit:these ones! Blue_Joe 0 Posted August 26, 2005 The Infinitys dont fit into the mountings on the Corrado. I did quite alot of research when replacing mine as I wanted the best I could afford into there at best sound quality - this is what I found Lanzar Neo 46.1 6x4 Rated at 100W RMS although you have to make allowances that they are not big speakers so shouldnt be running bass through, they are a fill in speaker! But shallow cone with a very shallow magnet means that they fit perfectly! However they are a little pricey! http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... duct=19259
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 thanks m8,little bit more than i can afford at the minute  so these wouldnt fit correctly? neil.
Blue_Joe 0 Posted August 26, 2005 Those are the first pair I bought and they DEFINATLY DO NOT FIT!!!
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 ahh well  thanks m8. just seen these!! look pretty good to me? will definately need the lower part of the holder chopping out with having a little sub/magnet i reckon :? polk momo/50w rms and 100w peak, worth the money?
Blue_Joe 0 Posted August 26, 2005 I woudl say not! Polk are generally good speakers however by the looks of the shape of the speaker you said yourself you would need to cut away the mountings on the rear shelf supports, as soon as you start to do that you weaken the structure and therefore may end up with vibration and that will possibly end up distorting the sound. Remeber it doesn't matter how good they look, you won't see them at all when they are mounted so go for a good set that fit without modification and you'll end up with a much better setup!!! mrbeige 0 Posted August 26, 2005 Don't bother with the alpines,, 20w RMS is a bit poo JBL are good, and apparently so are Infinity
Riley 0 Posted August 26, 2005 ok,this is all very confusing for me  why cant my charger just turn up so i can go bolt it on tonight! 20w rms does sound crap to me too though. neil.
Blue_Joe 0 Posted August 26, 2005 Same from me, dob't bother with those alpines. Look at the JBL as apparently tehy are pretty good. Alot of people on here have them. Although I can't rate them myself as never heard them!
