Cnut 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Were the Speedline alloys on a VR6 ever avaliable to buy aftermarket at different sizes like 16" or 17"? Because I really like the design of the Speedlines but I think they would look alot better in 16" or 17" also in keeping with the original look of the car. NickVR6 0 Posted October 18, 2005 I'd like to know this too, along with - do scoobie fitment fit the VR? As they had some tasty gold or alloy coloured 16 and 17" speedlines very similar to the standard VR ones?
dinkus 10 Posted October 19, 2005 Nope, the Speedies were 15 or er 15. I have a feeling that rumours were going round of some 16's in existance, but I've never seen or heard of them. The closest (and it is a mighty close match) are the Compmotive MOs in 16 x 6.5J. They look slightly different depending on which width you go for, but that particular size looks almost identical, but 16" - and they're the same width as the Speedies too. Otherwise I have a feeling that Scooby wheels are the right stud pattern, but I don't think the offsets will work on a C. Might be completely and utterly wrong though. billinjah 0 Posted October 19, 2005 im sure the scooby wheels could be made to fit they are 5x100 too that would be a cool look!
billinjah 0 Posted October 19, 2005 yup they are et 48 so could be spaced to fit.

I remember a few years back a guy from the VWCCGB up in Scotland managed to source a set of 17inch speedlines identical to his 15 O/E speedlines
dinkus 10 Posted October 19, 2005 Ahh, so the rumours are true! Boogared if I know where they came from though :D
NickVR6 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Bugger, my wheel fettish takes a new turn then. Gold 16/17" scoobie speedlines and spacers. They are really quite cheap brand new on ebay and lots on there. I recon they'd look pretty good.
dinkus 10 Posted October 19, 2005 Is the centre bore the same size/bigger than the Corrado though?
billinjah 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Is the centre bore the same size/bigger than the Corrado though? maybe but hardly a big prob!
NickVR6 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Plastic thingies sort this dont they?
billinjah 0 Posted October 20, 2005 yeah or a little drilling but tbh if your getting spacers you can get them hubcentric so youll have no issues at all wkprecision.co.uk are the boys for this sort of thing!
dinkus 10 Posted October 20, 2005 You can probably make the centre hole fit - but it's worth finding out before you buy em ;)
CoxyLaad 0 Posted October 20, 2005 I have a set of OZ prodrive P1 scooby wheels to go on the angry lemon, et 52, and hole centre 1mm smaller than the vw one. so, I am getting hub centric spacers made up 14mm thick, to match th esmaller center hole
Henny 0 Posted October 20, 2005 ah, so the center bore needs enlarging 1mm to fit scooby wheels to a Corrado? Hmmm... *goes off to think about something...*
biggrim 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Hope that hoooooge link works. 17" Speedline silvers look pretty similar to me. I was thinking of getting them for my G60 a while back but had no cash. edit - didn't work. only half the link is working. Anyone help? Speedos
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 20, 2005 I remember a few years back a guy from the VWCCGB up in Scotland managed to source a set of 17inch speedlines identical to his 15 O/E speedlines That's because they were available in 16 and 17" about 3 to 4 years ago. I rang Speedline themselves to enquire about this 6 months after I bought my C and they said they probably still have the moulds in Italy, but won't consider producing a batch unless some unrealistic number of people bought them....and they'd be like £1000 a set in 17" if they did make them :-(
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 20, 2005 biggrim, I've sorted your link for you. The Speedo 2110s (almost identical to VR ones) are unfortunately 4 stud Renault, Ford and Peugeot only.... they're not available in 5 stud :-( EDIT - no I didn't, sodding thing isn't working properly, one of the other mods might be able to fix it! biggrim 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Cheers for that Kev. Bit of a bugger that they're only 4 stud for you VR guys. I've attached a couple of pics anyway. Henny - you don't need ANOTHER set of wheels do you?????
Henny 0 Posted October 20, 2005 no I don't want another set of wheels... I need to sell at least 2 of the sets (and 2 of the golfs I have too...) pretty soon so I can sell my house... :| Anyway, Link now works (in a cheating kind of way!)... The forum doesn't like having a ' in a weblink and trunkates the link as soon as it sees one...
chrishill 0 Posted October 20, 2005 that could really confuse someone... speedlines? on a valver?? and they're 17's?!? *head pops in bewilderment*
