Guest Sean21 Posted February 19, 2006 Hi all, Thought this would be the most appropriate place to say hello - no newbies section :confused4: Anyway, I'm the new(ish) owner of a 1990 Corrado 16v - Emerald green (heard it callede dragon green before??) I'm a mechanic at a VW/Audi specialist and came across this valver at work. Was accident damaged, having had the N/S front wing done in, bending the wishbone and track rod. Long and short of it is I got the car for the grand total of £50. Been restoring it over the past few days, and thought I'd have a look-see on the net to see what the Corrado scene was like. (Need some parts too  ) Good thing is I get all the parts free from work (if we got them) as the boss is a top bloke, since we also stock alot of second hand parts from cars we break. Car's got full SH, nion £2k spent on it just before the accident, partly consisting of a Passat short ratio box (don't know the code) and braided hoses all round and new shocks all round. The more I work on it the more excited I get to get the bugger on the road!! These things look like a good bit of fun. I also got an 8v MK2 GTI and my main car, my baby, a Rover Coupe 220 Turbo - yes a ROVER!! So if anyone's got an emerald green rado they're breaking let me know! lol I look forward to reading what you guys got to offer, and offering my services wherever possible. (Problem is I know more about Rovers than Veedubs!!! Ridiculous I know!)
bcstudent 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Hello, good evening and welcome. £50, eh? That's about what mine's worth! There's no shortage of advice here and parts are generally sourceable if you get stuck. The Corrado scene is pretty vibrant considering the relatively small number of them on the roads.

Trig 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Thank God there're people like you out there restoring Rado's! Most of them are just broken for parts these days as it's the best way to make money from them. Either that or they are written off! If you check the paint code in the service book or in the boot it should be LC6P - that's dragon green (no such colour as emerald AFAIK). Mine is dragon green, take a look at my members gallery to compare, link is below.. Let's have a look at some pictures then!

Guest Sean21 Posted February 19, 2006 Thanks all. Will try and get some pics up. A before, and when I'm finished, after shot. Free parts yeah, but Corrado parts are as rare as anything. We mainly deal with golfs, especially MK2s, which is handy for my GTI lol. I'll be working on it tonight, just gotta pop down to the workshop and pickup a inner cv-joint that fits. Will take some pics then hopefully. There's a long story behind it all. My mate bought it off my boss for £300, still a bargain IMO, then another £50+ for parts and a new wing. I told him he could store it at mine for a couple of weeks, cos it didnt need that much work to get it drivable. Well 3 months passed!! and nothing happened, he snapped the front wishbone bolt in the captive nut (not knowing he did, and wondering why it didn't come off!!!) so months passed and he didnt progress. I had a look, found out what was wrong told him what to do. Nothing happened. I had neigbours onto me, the council and everyone to move the thing as it looked like it had been dumped. At the end of the day I said it's getting towed tomorrow (not by me, but by threat of the borough council) so do something, either scrap it or sell it back to my boss. He said he'd had enough, so just scrap it. Didn't even want the scrap money lol. 20 mins later I realised I should just sort it out! I offered him £50 not thinking he'd take it, but hey presto. So a £50 car, which cost less than the parts it came with! Result. :D

Guest Sean21 Posted February 19, 2006 Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a result. Have you got the bolt out? What parts do you need? Jay lol, just got another subframe off the shelf at work. Perks of the job hey. Need a new bumper and preferably a o/s wing in green, otherwise I'll just get one we got sprayed up. Need a corrado badge for the back (not a priority though.) Thing is, when it was parked at mine (across the road in my parents' car park) some dirty little chavvy c*nts tried to break in, by doing so snapped the n/s door handle, and left a nice dent where they'd planted their foot. So need a new door, but again would only change if in green. No pics tonight, started "trying" to change an inner cv gaitor, but no luck. Need to get the boss to have a look, cos I don't know what shaft is being used as a result of the passat box on there. Rado 16v inner joint splines are too tight, and tried a passat 2 &3 and splines are too tight again. Gave up after a few dozen trips to the workshop swapping joints! Ended up rebuilding the Rover's 'box.
