Where you from ?

Recommended Posts

Swansea originally. Joined the RAF when I was 17 and been about a bit. Living in Blackpool for now ;)

It also helps if people put their home town in their profile on the right of the page :)

One of the few on here from Northern Ireland, just out side Belfast, but considering moving to England to make it easier to find the elusive Corrado I want.....

Born Dundee, Scotland's fourth city.

Lived in Linlithgow 27 years. It is about a quarter of the way along the Edinburgh-Glasgow railway. A former ancient capital of Scotland with a palace where Mary Queen of Scots was born (she was executed by QE1 - bitch!)

Off topic, I know, but misconceptions about rainfall by some of you guys in eastern half of England is interesting.

Average rainfall for a year in the UK ranges from about just under

500mm (around Grays/Southend) to over

4000mm on some of our western hills.

Average for whole of England is about 830mm.

Many of the villages and small towns in the West Highlands of Scotland, Snowdonia and the Lake district get about 2000mm per year.

Other averages are:

St Austell - 1250

Swansea, parts of Glasgow and Plymouth - 1200

Cardiff - 1000

Manchester & Sheffield - 800

Durham - 650

Rotherham - 630

Grimsby & much of central London - 600

Sorry about that - water and rainfall was a specialism of mine for many years at work.

I'll get me coat now! (or should that be anorak?)

"Ooh! - I do believe it has started to rain again..." (said Sybill Fawlty as an attempted diversion, when Manuel's rat appeared in the biscuit tin just offered to the health inspector. Mind you, that was in Torquay.)

Whixall in shropshire originally...the place of the very well known locally scrap yard..."Furbers" (That's W. J. Furber)

Talk about in the sticks?? My parents drove into Whixall and then spent the following 15 years trying to find a way out, that place is like a rabbit warren.

We lived here!
