veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted April 19, 2006 The Corrado's prototype name was Typhoon
davidwort 0 Posted April 19, 2006 The Corrado's prototype name was Typhoon from CCGB site: Volkswagen followed its tradition of naming cars after winds, by naming the Corrado after the Spanish for 'wind current or Jet Stream'. 'Corrado' is derived from the Spanish verb 'Correr', which means to Run or to Sprint ( hence the 'Club' magazine is called The Sprinter ) The prototype, however, was given the less impressive name of the 'Typhoon' (source: 1987 issue of Car & Driver) In fact the original prototype was called the Taifun before being changed. davidwort 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Volkswagen followed its tradition of naming cars after wind coming in 2007, the all new VW Fart well that explains the Corsa Trip then, (that would be 'Corsa Fahrt' in German?)
dinkus 10 Posted April 19, 2006 Corrado is also a (fairly) common Italian name. Corsa is Italian for race, so Corsa Trip would be Racing Fahrt

4stud 0 Posted April 20, 2006 I always thought Corrado came from an old african tribal saying - He who have great wealth soon to have no wealth.
