monk 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Hello (New Guy) I'm looking at buying a late edition (storm) rado vr6 1995(N), and was wondering what the going rate for a good condition (100,000 mile or so) example would be worth. The prices for these cars seem to jump all over the place (i've been offered between £4000-£7000). The leather interior on two cars i've looked at seems quite worn for the age (is this normal??). Don't want to commit to any particular car until i'm positive of its worth. (is there a guide price for 100,000 mile 1995 storms?). Would really appreciate any advice I could get prior to purchase. Don't want to spend more than £4500 basically, I am a poor student. Thx
Walesy 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Hiya monk Click here for a buying guide - If you have a look around the knowledge base you'll find quite alot of technical info etc that you might find usefull
dub envy 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Nice storms go for more than £4.5k. For that money you're better off looking for a nice VR6. The leather condition depends on the use of the car. I bought mine on 123k and the leather looks like its done half that! I've also seen cars with far less miles with crap condition leather.
Andy665 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Better to buy a nice VR6 than a tired Storm - as has already been said a nice Storm will cost more than 4.5K - depends how much you want that Storm badge
dr_mat 0 Posted May 20, 2006 I'd quite like to buy a Bugatti Veyron with under 5000 miles on it. I've got £2,611.92p to spare. I'm about as likely to be happy with my purchase as someone looking for a minter Storm for £4.5k .. !! ;) Either increase your budget or lower your sights. (Or be unbelievably lucky.) Bear in mind that Parkers/Glasses and so on massively undervalue these cars due to their rarity. Also bear in mind that poor students generally can't afford to insure group 19 cars, or pay for petrol at 25 miles per gallon. (Yes that's only ONE insurance group off the top of the scale!) vr6storm 0 Posted May 20, 2006 http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... highlight= that should answer most of your Q's about them
STORM 2 0 Posted May 20, 2006 I never knew you could get them new 8)
JimSTORM 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Paid nearly 8k for mine and that was cheap. For that money you will get a cracking vr6. cheaper insurance too. There is a real nice one for sale at the moment on here, check it out.
Ice White Socks 0 Posted May 20, 2006 yeah the leather does seem to vary enormously between Storms (and VR's in general)- it must just depend on how much of a fat knacker has been driving it?
monk 0 Posted May 20, 2006 thanks for all your help guys, i've managed to locate a nice condition storm today, bloke has really spent a lot of money maintaining its condition/reconditioning/ brakes, full vw history etc. I'll post some pics up or something when i've got it ready. Its pretty much stock too, original solitudes, he's lowered it on fk coilovers (ride is very nice) virtually mint original paintwork, leather needs a bit of work. Does anyone know how much it costs to restore/refurbish front storm leather seats (white)? and where I can get it done? Is this an expensive proposition? vr6storm 0 Posted May 20, 2006 beige you mean MJ interiors will retrim the front seats for under(just) £
dr_mat 0 Posted May 21, 2006 You might find that the leather is much improved simply with a good leather restorer. Certainly it'll become a lot more flexible and less hard and shiny with just one treatment. And we have to assume you've worked out how much insurance is going to be! :)
