CazzaVR 0 Posted September 2, 2010 Good job on the lights - any tips on how you managed to align them so well? Mine look a bit odd :( Are yours aftermarket? Standard ones should fit properly, although I always half tighten the bolts so I can make slight adjustments before replacing the rear panel.

Think they are genuine but tinted, but will try the half tightening method. Cheers! :salute:
Jim 2 Posted September 2, 2010 Looks cracking mate. As ever, proof that you don't need to do much to a VR to make it look perfect. Still think the Speedline wheel looks stunning! Thanks, Jim. Yeh, love Speedies- just wish they were 16s though! I never look at my Solitudes and wish they were 16" if I'm totally honest. For some reason as I've moved onto VR ownership, big alloys have become totally unappealing to me and the original ones just look great. I half have my eye out for a set of original Estorils for the valver and I always HATED those... so I must be going through some kind of weird change ;)

Think I'd keep the Borbets over Estorils though! I'm tempted to get my Speedies refurbed in smoked chrome, if I can't find any Borbet Cs ;)

CazzaVR 0 Posted September 3, 2010 Thanks, Andy :) Wind deflectors are the Heku ones off Ebay. Think they're around £30 delivered. Take a couple of minutes to fit. Love them- mean you can crack the windows open even in heavy rain 8)

boost monkey 0 Posted September 5, 2010 Looks great Cazza! That's my perfect black C :luvlove: mine is still laid up at the mo, and Prodigal's is off the road too. Soon though.... :D
CazzaVR 0 Posted September 5, 2010 Thanks J :) When are you gonna get yours up and running then? What needs to be done? Why's A's G off the road? :(
boost monkey 0 Posted September 17, 2010 The Plum is more like a Turnip at the mo - still purple, but covered in lots of muck! Well not literally, but the seats have changed colour :gag: Andy will be getting his car back up soon I think, he tells me it needs "a lot of work" so I point to my C and say "Really?" He likes to do things properly which can take time. His probably just needs some fresh petrol and it will be good to go! In the mean time, I'm using my Carrera 8) yeah, the pushbike :cuckoo:
VRSICK 0 Posted September 17, 2010 Nice clean rado mate....Just wanted to ask, I currently have wind defelctors on mine however, the passenger side seems to 'rattle' wen the window is fully shut and iv noticed that its slightly loose compared to the drivers side :brickwall: Any way round that?? Do you have the same problem? Cheers
CazzaVR 0 Posted September 18, 2010 Thanks mate :) Yep, the sticky strip they come with just isn't up to the job! Get yourself some number plate tape from Halfords and fix some where the original stuff was (where it joins the B-pillar). You could also put some along the top edge too. HTH! CazzaVR 0 Posted December 24, 2010 Haven't updated for a while! Done a few bits and bobs over the last few months- most notably engine mounts. DG fitted a solid rubber MK2 diesel gearbox mount a while ago. After that, the car seemed to have a lot of engine movement. As it had a front Vibratechnics mount, I assumed it was due to the rear mount (still the original!). Changed this out myself for a new rear VT mount. The original mount seemed in OK condition when I removed it. Unfortunately, this didn't solve the prob, so did the old handbrake test and found the front mount seemed to have some play :( Money's tight, so couldn't afford a brand new VT mount, and couldn't find anywhere that sells replacement inserts. Black Forest Industries have loads of well-priced inserts, but don't ship to the UK... Did a bit of research on here and on VR6OC and found that quite a few Golf VR6 drivers are using a solid front mount. Wasn't too keen on the idea- had a solid mount on my last 16v and it gave horrible vibrations at idle etc. However, after looking at the reviews, the guys on VR6OC seemed very impressed and also said it gives next to no extra vibrations, due to the cross-member bushings. So I bought one off Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk3-VR6-S ... 2c59852c78 . Well-priced and arrived quickly. It's a really nice piece of kit! Fitted it last night, and took for a good old drive this morning... it's superb! The car feels amazing + there is basically NO extra vibration. Totally cured the engine movement, gearchange feels better too. Would totally recommend this mount :)

domwells27 0 Posted January 12, 2011 £48 for a piece of billet ally?! Thats not just any bit of ally, its got letters stamped on the end of it! That guy must be making a mint out of these, must get a lathe in the shed soon........
CazzaVR 0 Posted January 12, 2011 Aye, opposed to £145 for a bit of ally filled with some poly, or a chunk of swiss-cheesed rubber from VW.
lilfuzzer 1 Posted January 12, 2011 Looks pretty nice mount that like I know you have said its no extra vibration but after a couple of weeks I'd be interested in the day to day living with it as quite fancy that purchase. Cazza let me know how you get if you wouldnt mind ;)

LOL, I thought you were going to finish that off with "...this is M&S ally" As for solid mounts, report back to us in 6 months when your engine mount bracket has sheared off and the engine's whacked the bonnet :cuckoo:
StueyB 0 Posted January 13, 2011 Black Forest Industries have loads of well-priced inserts, but don't ship to the UK... Wished you've have said, I had the same problem but found that Four Seasons Tuning stock them and shipped them to the UK for me along with lots of other lovely Gen VAG bits. Been very happy with my BFI mounts and have since helped my Bro fit them to his Goof VR6 and a friends Ibiza 1.8T. Interesting to see how the new front mount works out however if you do wanna order some BFI's just give me a shout and i'll drop you some details.
