swginn 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Hey lads, what's the craic?? Been a member here for a while now looking to buy my first Corrado. Picked her up last month so i said I'd better put a few posts up. Very helpful forum, I've been able to find an answer to nearly all of my questions here. So anyway here's the spec on the car and a few pics: 1994 Aqua Blue Pearl 2.0 16V 66k Full VAG Service & MOT History Cobra Alarm Sony Head Unit 17" BBS RX/ BF Goodridge Profiler G Aero Wiper Conversion Engine is standard FK Highsports are on the way to lose the ridiculous 4x4 ride height, along with clear repeaters. Then I'll attack the engine. :D So.....what do ye think?? Standard engine :( Aero wipers went on today

Trig 0 Posted August 13, 2006 That looks like a great base for some choice mod's, good buy! What are you going to do about the nasty scratches on the windscreen though? ;)

swginn 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Cheers Lads for all the comments. Spent a while looking for a nice genuine low-mileage valver that hadn't been raped by the boy racers and finally this one came up. Owned by a Cop and then a Heli Pilot before me so she's been driven and maintained like a Corrado should be. No scratches on the windscreen; overhead powerlines, although you had me worried!! Will keep ye posted on the progress!!
Nick 0 Posted August 15, 2006 I normally hate those wheels on a c, but today, they seem just right. Very clean looking rado, and with only 66k, i bet shes a minter!
Jim 2 Posted August 15, 2006 Certainly looks mint from the picture of the windscreen.. the paint on the bonnet looks factory fresh! Lovely!

swginn 0 Posted August 19, 2006 Bit of progress on the lowering front. Ordered some KW Variant 1 coilovers from Darren at G-werks today. Hope to have them fitted by the end of the month. Not a lot of people on here running them I don't think but have heard great things about KW so hopefully they'll be sweet. They certainly look the business anyway. Cheers Darren! swginn 0 Posted September 16, 2006 Nearly there now lads, she'll be slammed on Monday. Gonna start by dropping her about 50mm. Can't afford a new spoiler just yet so want to hold onto my current one for a while!! :) The KWs really look good!! They seem really well made and should last for a while too, being stainless. Can't wait to throw her around a bit after Autowerks (my local VW specialist) have sorted her!! Sweet :D
swginn 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Right Lads, Here ye go. Lowered, not too sure by how much yet.... must get out the tape! My local VAG specialist Autowerks have just levelled it and I'm gonna drive it as is for a couple of weeks until she has settled. Haven't caught anything yet so I reckon I'm safe to drop another 15mm at least :D. Completely transforms the look and feel of the car. She handles like a go-kart now and the ride is firm but not harsh. This is the way the Corrado should have rolled out of the factory. The lads in Autowerks did a top-notch job of overhauling her and she drives much better now. Needed new engine mount and plugs (was running sh*te champions) and what a difference it makes. She drives so much smoother and the pick-up has improved too. Replaced the top mounts with VR6 mounts, replaced the ball joints and anti-roll bar linkages. Got a new rad and exhaust mount too. A costly service but the difference it made to the car was well worth it. Here are the pics anyway, went a bit mad!! (she's crying out for a new splitter, I know!) ....And more! All I need now is my corrado-forum stickers!!
Phil K 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Looks great! Love the wheels and ride height 8)
blue95 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Looks Bang On mate!!!! Did you use spacers on your alloys? Also what suspension did yoo go for?
swginn 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Cheers lads, Went for KW Variant 1 from Darren. Couldn't really justify the extra for Variant 2 when I'm never really likely to adjust the damping. It proved to be worth it in the end as I really like the damping as it is. Great price on the KWs too at the moment. Had to run a 5mm spacer on the rears just for that extra bit of clearance. ben16v 0 Posted October 4, 2006 looks mint mate!!
Mave 0 Posted October 4, 2006 very very nice, cool pics too :D lovin the wheels
blue95 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I had use 5mm spacers on my front as well after I dropped the suspension. Tyre was catching the coilovers
swginn 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I had use 5mm spacers on my front as well after I dropped the suspension. Tyre was catching the coilovers Mine seem fine anyway. Didn't need the spacers on the fronts. It's probably down to the Coilovers being different I suppose. Gonna order some clear repeaters and FK smoked/red rears there in a bit too. Just looking on the venom website, which are the better repeaters to go for: clear or crystal? Also what size chrome top bulbs do i need for the FKs and repeaters?
blue95 0 Posted October 5, 2006 Yep my fronts seemed to catch worse than the rears. I went for clear indicators and M3 stlye lights on the back, as the front is all clear, guess it is just personal pref. I did look on memebers gallery as well just to check out my options. As for bulbs think they only come in one size. Also for my side indicators I found the new seals were crap (leaked) and ended up using a set of new geniune ones
swginn 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Been a while since I've posted up any photos, so after a quick wax today I said I'd take a few snaps. Murphy's Law no doubt.... it would have to get dark before I got the camera out! Anyway, I've been quite busy since my last update: New Splitter New Plates Debadged Grill Smoked/ Red tailights Clear Repeaters Coilovers wound down even more 5mm spacers on front now as well Uprated wiring loom Headlights 'detailed' I stripped back the horrible chrome on the tailight surrounds to black using autosol(Cheers Bally!!) so they'd look a little more 'factory'... but of course forgot to take any pics of this! As for the grill, I reckon once I track down a nice chrome 16V badge for the corner it'll finish it off nicely. It actually sits a lot lower than in the pics but I had her jacked up to take the wheels off for a clean and the coilovers hadn't settled back down yet. Here ye go anyway, no fancy locations, ye'll have to make do with the driveway I'm afraid. FK Smoked/Red Interior (needs leather!!) Detailed Headlights Uprated Headlight Loom..... I can see!! :D One more...
