Jim Bowen 1 Posted September 25, 2006 i wanna replace the rubber bits on the roof as they perished beyond belief. Is this possible, can you still buy the bits? Also is a pic of the dent in my C, the only major downside to the exterior :( Paint looks mucky but it was before i washed it. i aslo seem to be suffering badly from faded paintwork :(
steve @ 0 Posted September 25, 2006 The roof trims you can just run a knife down and remove the rubber. Mine were the same.
Walesy 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Or you can buy new ones from GPC for around £70 AFAIK
Guest Posted September 25, 2006 there is plenty on the forum regarding the roof trim, where to buy, and different ways to tidy it up, etc. just do a search and you'll find loads of threads about it :)
Walesy 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Well, other than trimming it, smoothing it or replacing it there's not alot of options
Guest Posted September 25, 2006 "ways" = plural "trimming" and "smoothing" = more than one more than one = plural you see? ;) langauge is a wonderful thing

Guest Posted September 25, 2006 bah, I'm here now, might as well make others suffer :D I was against trimming it, as I thought the gap would be obvious, but Jay had his trimmed, and I didn't notice until he said (rereading that, I am talking about roof trim, and nothing else )

Guest Posted September 25, 2006 plus it makes it look bigger  I'm gonna cut the rubber away on mine, I just haven't got round to it yet, one of those things that will take 5 mins and I'll swear about what a numpty I was for not doing it sooner. its just a razor blade job apparently

lamwagon 0 Posted September 30, 2006 3corsameal, when u have your arch done get them smoothed at the same time :D
Trig 0 Posted September 30, 2006 Thought I had before and after pics but can't seem to find them.. I got up one morning with the idea of cutting them off, I put the kettle on went out the garage and did it then had nice cuppa cha. :) Seriously though, cut off the bad bits with a nice sharp stanley. It looks weird for about 30 seconds then looks much better. After that they'll never even draw your attention again.
fla 9 Posted October 4, 2006 triggermyson, just post some 'after' pics to show what it looks like.
Taggart 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I trimmed mine, and filled with black guttering silicon to stop water gathering in there.
Trig 0 Posted October 4, 2006 fla, i'll take some tomorrow and post them up. Like I said though, they will never even draw attention again.
Rick_ford55 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Yeah has anyone got a pic of how to do this??? And is that purple c up above photoshoped or what?
Trig 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I would say the purple C was designed on one of the 'customise an imaginary car' sites. As far as a 'how to' goes it's pretty simple... 1. Put kettle on 2. Get a very sharp knife 3. Cut off the tatty bits in a nice straight line 4. Drink tea I will get some pics up though...
Guest Posted October 5, 2006 add that to the wiki Trig ;)
