engine mounts

Recommended Posts

After getting my new exhaust I had a problem with the engine vibrating under hard acceleration in low gears and the downpipes (correct term?) from the manifold hitting some part of the steering/suspension (i think).

I took it back to the place i got the exhaust from and they reshaped it as much as they could, which reduced the problem massivly, but i still get vibration when i boot it in 1st. I was wondering if a new, uprated engine mount would fit the problem? as i understand it they can pretty much eliminate engine movement. Any recomendations and ideas on prices?

OEM engine mounts don't usually allow the engine to move far enough to foul other bits of the engine bay... You might just need NEW mounts, whatever type they may be.

hi chis i have the exact same problem .have moded car inc stainless exhaust and had rattles ect.

much time spent adjusting exhaust usual back axel knocking.now allmost there.

just need to stop downpipe hitting steering rack ,

as yourself.new front mount looks like the answer.now do we need expensive special mounts or like alex says use one for a golf mk2 1.6 diesel.

would like to know what others are using :? cheers all :?
