Thinking first case of dodgy ignition switch. Usually the culprit.

Have you got lights ?

If so probably the switch. Loads of info on here about them, just a git to get at.

new switches are about 8 bucks I think new from vw. They are just and arse to fit

sounds like battery if lights not working tho.

Good luck

Unlikley to be the battery - they tend to die over time. Can you check the cells in each bit of the battery to check they're all full of water.

My money's on ignition switch too.

Mines got a drain on the battery i've yet to find.

When theres not enough juice to start it just goes clicky clicky clicky clicky.

Your battery may be fine, bump or jump start it and get it tested.

Battery can die overnight if its on its way out. Try charging it first before changing it. Ive got a solar trickle charger on mine that plugs into the cigar socket. If the battery won't hold a charge then a trickle charger ain;t much use.

Sounds like a cell has died on the battery, it can and does happen. Mine went the same way a few years ago. Often seems to happen during the first cold snap of winter (well to me anyway)
