G-Lad 0 Posted July 18, 2009 Hey all I'm doing a lot of messing about with my wiring loom under the bonnet, while trying to sort out an electrical / cooling fault. Annoyingly, the black fabric tape that's wrapped around lots of the wiring loom is falling off.. That's 15 years of a hot VR6 for you! I don't want to use cr@ppy black electrical tape as it looks shoddy. Any ideas where I can buy nice black woven fabric tape, to make it look factory fresh again? Cheers Chris

Supercharged 2 Posted July 18, 2009 The VW stuff found in the electrical catalogue is 000 979 950 but is felt based so I think it's meant to be used in the car only not engine bay... AS-Essentials, who used to be Audioscape sell a good OE matching one - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-Rolls-Scappa-Bl ... 7C294%3A50 And this is like the one VW sell - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TESA-FLUFFY-CLOTH ... 7C294%3A50

gsbellew 0 Posted July 18, 2009 Supercharged has already posted the VW part number. The Wurth stuff is 00985 12 Fire and Water Resistant Tape, matches the OE VW tape perfectly.

Wompa 0 Posted November 7, 2010 Okey.. sorry for the bump of this thread! In my engine bay there is some wires that is wrapped in this cloth tape... Isnt that the same cloth tape that is used in the dash harness? Thanks for the tip anyway.. Wurth is close to me and they did have that cloth tape in stock! Sweet!
