What a machine - you lucky man!

I agree re running in - the more care spent gradually increasing the load and keeping the engine spinning freely, the more it will repay you in rattle free reliability.

Peeps [especially sales peeps] who advise otherwise are simply engineering philistines!

Even lumps of metal have to rub along gently to develop empathy for each other!

To start with anyway. :norty: :norty:

The car gives you sooooo much confidence in the corners, such solidity in the chassis, the feedback, you can almost tell what each wheel doing is.

I love that you can hear the gearchanges, you can hear the turbos spooling up, the whine of the turbos, the direct steering.

And the looks/stares you get from people, I've not had as many looks at the Corrado in the last 5 years as I've had in the GTR in last 24hours. I stopped at Tesco 24hrs last night and one of the guards came up "What car is that then", "GTR", "wow, I bet I'd even get a sh@g if I had one of them" hahahaha

And bloody 'ell its WIDE!!!

The car is in a whole new league compared to anything I have ever driven (including a 996 911 Turbo to name but one), and I have driven quite a few high performance cars.

I passed the 300mile mark yesterday (according to the GTR technician, no revving above 3500rpm in any gear until 300miles & very easy on the throttle, between 300-600 miles you can rev higher than 3500rpm in gear 4, 5 & 6 and can depress the throttle pedal a little more - still not fully depressing). In 4th gear, pressing the throttle 40% (said the guage on the screen) the acceleration is just savage!!!!

I cant wait till after the optimisation service after 1200miles when I can give it the full welly! :D

Still getting a lot of looks although some of the looks are "you're a b@stard for having that car" but I guess I can't expect everyone to be happy eh.

Didnt come waxed from the dealer which I'm dissappointed about so gonna give it a good clean come this weekend and hopefully get proper pics up too :)

Very nice sir :salute:

From everything I've read about it so far, it seems such a bargain compared to a lot of less talented and over priced German cars. They just didn't see it coming and they don't like it, to the point of Porsche being childish and accusing Nissan of cheating when the GTR annihilated their flagship car round the ring

The only thing I don't like about it is the hideous tailpipes. They don't need to be THAT big and it spoils the rear end imo, but otherwise it's a nice looking car 8)

Yeah you will get lots of 'haters' giving you jealous evils, but why? It's not like it's a £1M Veyron! I've seen highly specced dullard repmobiles cost more than a GTR! What a bargain! I'm thinking maybe I should forget my MK5 R32 turbo project and just save up for one of these instead!

Something like this would seem to be the next logical step for you Kev. I always figured you'd eventually go for a 911 but this is very much the underdog car but has already shown it has nothing to prove and is very highly accomplished. I'd have one in a heartbeat.

Servicing costs do sound terrifying though.

General servicing not too bad but check out those prices for brakes :| I heard similar stories about gearbox oil changes, etc. I guess when you drive a performance car like this though, whilst the RRP may be lower than other cars of similar performance, it's still going to need the same TLC.

Yeah it does seem like something I could tinker with :D

Forget those costs mate, I'd do the work myself and replace the discs with AP racing ones at half the cost. It may have plasma coated bores and an intel core 7 quad under the dash (probably!) but at the end of the day it's just pistons going up and down and needs the same care and attention as any other car which has pistons going up and down.

All the silly things Nissan put in place that can be circumvented, will be circumvented!

It does come to something though, reading that thread, when BMW and Porsche servicing on their flagship cars (M5, 911 Turbo) all significantly undercut the GT-R by at least 50% over 5 years. Scary.

I didn't read all 11 pages, I just stopped after reading "Nissan charge £120 per hour....", which is £30 p/h more than Audi, and they're not exactly cheap!!!

It's clearly Nissan being all elitist and gestapo like with the GTR though. I can't see Mildred down the road paying £120 p/h to service her Micra. Don't get me wrong, it is a very high tech car and demands more attention than your average machine, but come on, they've built this thing for average joes to blast up and down average highways, so it's not going to fall to bits. If it does, that would be Nissan's fault, like that silly Bonnet debacle where if you so much as tap an object, it triggers every nannying device under the sun and you have to replace the whole bumper and bonnet, what a joke! It could just be internet conjecture, but even so, it doesn't sound too encouraging.

It truly is a thing of beauty, but I won't be held hostage to manufacturers playing pranks like that.

Discount price, hmmm let me see, I tell you what..... as Jersey Storm man was offered £17K for his VRT, I'll do you £500 off that, so it's yours for £16,500

Nah, as nice as Shaun's car was, I cannot believe anyone paid that much for a Corrado, with or without turbo, but hey, if someone came knocking on my door with that much money, I wouldn't turn them away :D

9 points!!! You naughty boy Mr Forinor! £2K isn't so bad for the ballistic performance and the horrendous cost of repairing the things :D

WOW. Not saying that his rado isnt worth 17k, but holy crap... 17k for a rado? Good on the man I say.. Kev, yours cant be worth too much less (im assuming your paint isnt as mint as his was)

Dr, thats cheap dude considering the 9 points.. u best make some dodgy contacts within the DVLA to get those points cleared, no doubt there'll be some more coming your way soon enough

5points come off in Jan 2011, so fingers crossed that will make a difference to my next insurance year.

This thing will get me into trouble though

Oh hell yes...

Im excited now. Ive seen vids of em goin round tracks against porkas n what not but i dont think u can judge just how phenomenal they are unless u see them out on the road! I nearly cried when the GTR owner belted it with me in the passenger seat. Ive honestly never been soo fast and then stopped so rapidly in my life.

How much are the disks?

I never saw his paint in the flesh, but I know he repainted it once or twice. Mega fastidious doesn't come close to describing his attention to detail with paint!

My paint is shiney enough I guess, but not concours standard like his! :D

I have no idea what mine's worth, certainly a lot more than £17K in parts, but no one's gonna pay close to that for it, so I'm stuck with it..... what a shame
