Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 8, 2003 Hi all Should there be a plastic scuttle cover sheilding the wiper motor and motronic module on a VR6? There is a small one on the passenger side but the rest of the scuttle area is exposed. I tried to get one but the dealer claims VW never fitted one. There must be one surely? Seems silly leaving everything exposed to the elements like that! Not to mention looking horrible. If there is one, could someone do me a huge favour and get the part number from it? Thanks Kev 94 VR6
G60Jet 1 Posted March 8, 2003 There is only a small cover that covers the heater intake and it covers about half of the motronic moduale. thats it!! nothing bigger ever made
stormseeker 0 Posted March 8, 2003 you can make a Golf Mk2 one fit with a lot of fiddling... see VW Vortex forum thread (quuite a long way down before they get on to Rain trays!) and, my favourite Japanese Corrado nuttter Oichan's rain tray mod  (Maybe someone can post a link to the Japanese Translator again, can't get access to it at work :( ) Chris. Noticed the following Part No. 828440750 Trim "RH Bonnet Water Deflector" There's a LH one as well Part No. 82844740 Could with be the mysterious scuttle panel??
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 3, 2003 They are the the mouldings that sit under the wipers unfortunately. Why VW were happy to leave the wiper motor etc exposed is a mystery and it looks a bloody mess when the bonnet is up to. Reckon I might try the MK2 Golf conversion. Banana Man 0 Posted April 3, 2003 I'm thinking about making an alloy cover that covers the whole lot which will not only look trick but serve a pupose as well, the thing with the plastic covers is that they go very brittle and crack over time and start to leak!! I ve seen a few alloy ones on golfs and they look pretty good I cant see it being that difficult cutting a sheet of ally to size and to make up some brackets to hold it in place!!!
