gregulate 0 Posted November 6, 2009 "....totally agree mate about whats out there at the moment, theres a lot of car for little money, GTV included. I just said it as I have a GTV cup, (since new) and its build quality is dreadful, my VR is in better shape inside and its 10 years older ........both great cars though." Surprised to hear your comments on build quality mate. Although I've not had mine that long, it feels really solid, all the electrics/switches work etc, leather unmarked etc...! Touch wood it stays that way! My mate had a gtv and the electrics were shocking (excuse the pun)......when he put his headlights on full beam the electric windows would wind down..... Leonard 0 Posted November 6, 2009 My mate had a gtv and the electrics were shocking (excuse the pun)......when he put his headlights on full beam the electric windows would wind down..... I think you will find thats an optional extra on Italian cars. Its called Battona mode, saves you winding the window down after you have flashed a particularly juicy looking Italian lady, so you can bellow suggestive remarks at her... dgtvr6 0 Posted November 6, 2009 Since buying the Corrado I have had: Rover 600 - Don't ask! BMW 323i - ok Audi A6 Avant - Good car Jaguar X-Type 3.0 v6 AWD - Nice car to sit in up and down the motorway And they have all been and gone and I still have the Corrado and am now officialy banned from buying anything else until I have sold the Corrado... Not really many cars I'd have instead of the C so difficult to move on.

NottsCounty 0 Posted November 7, 2009 When I sold the Corrado I was already using a MK4 Astra 1.6 8v  .......absolutely shocking car. The best thing about it was that I didn't care about it and it meant that the dog never had to go anywhere near the C. Then moved onto a CLK430 as it was given to me. Great car in a straight line but like most Mercs absolutely lethal when you turn the steering wheel. I've now got a Lexus IS220d which is purely for eating up the motorway miles. I can't wait to get back to VR6 ownership :norty:
carpy25 0 Posted November 7, 2009 Rob how are you finding the running costs and any nasty parts bills as of yet? did you look into 993s at all? got the car for here http://www.specialistcarsltd.co.uk/ Came with a 12 months bumper to bumper warranty , had one issue so far that was sorted out quickly by Cardiff OPC and coverd by this , the car averaging 27-28 mpg i'll say that again because it don't sink in fist time 27-28 mpg which is unbelievable was expecting low twenty's the corrado 16v only averaged 32-33 mpg , insurance is under £600 and the C was just under £300 excess is higher but thats the only change , had 155 mph on a private stretch of road :) still pulling like a train in 5th i think with enough road it wold do the claimed top speed of 170 + looks like a trip to the autobarn is on the cards  tax is cheaper than my 02 audi A3 so all in all very happy Rob
Adz The Rat 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Sold my Blackberry VR and bought a MK3 Golf GTI 16v I miss the noise and power from the Corrado but to be honest I love the Golf much more
dan_VR6_storm 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Hmm, I can understand some of the Alfa-bashing that goes on here - I was guilty of it myself 'til I bought and drove one... The car is an absolute MONSTER!!! I'd have bought another Corrado without doubt if the people who were selling them at the time had half a brain/some common sense (in terms of car valuation)! Why do most people who have a Corrado for sale think it's worth £000 more than it actually is?! Just think, if you've got a half decent Storm/VR6 for sale, you can buy an M3 Evo (and other f*cking fast coupes), for only couple of £ more... Much as I loved my old Storm, there are other cars out there 'do a job' on the Corrdao....

Dubby 0 Posted November 8, 2009 My daily of more than 6 years (longest I've ever had a car  ), a Polo GTI. I've been thinking of maybe replacing it in a year or two, but then I think I'd want to hang on to it anyway  so maybe it'll be second-car to a new 'Rocco, cross that bridge when I come to it! Similar stats to yours but waaay worse MPG it seems, it's definitely a heavier car mind (1620kg ish) Is C4s 0-100 in 10.2? I read more like 12.summin but it doesn't really matter, still an awesome stat with nigh on 30MPG. :notworthy: Edit: Found a cool comparison site http://tinyurl.com/y9pp996
carpy25 0 Posted November 13, 2009 good link that very interesting to compare cars the weight is the big differance pulled the 10.2 figure off the net somewhere listed here in a c2 autocar test but also list 0-60 times quicker so who knows , bhp figure is listed as 320 by porsche , but does a few bhp or a couple of seconds really matter most cars make more than claimed and 0-60 times given by manufacturer are hard to achive in the real world :D Rob
horney 0 Posted November 13, 2009 x reg 1.4 PD TDI Polo 5 door. It was either sell the Corrado or the Track Cart and although I adored the corrado I couldn't part with the track car so the Raddo was swapped for the Polo. I miss the Rado loads but I know I did the right thing and I suspect in years to come a VR Rado will be tucked up in a garage for me to use on sunny days. nick
