This was the under bonnet when I got the car [ATTACH=CONFIG]48336[/ATTACH] Not too bad, but a few broken/missing clips and frayed wire on show - nothing stood out being really nice. Slowly been sourcing and replacing anything I could to tidy it up a bit. This first picture is after the broken engine plastic was removed, revealing more frayed cable covering [ATTACH=CONFIG]48332[/ATTACH] Next is after wrapping in self amalgamating tape [ATTACH=CONFIG]48333[/ATTACH] Then the others are showing the new plastics fitted, the new battery cover fitted, and the bay cleaned of all the dust and polishing compound left from the re-spray [ATTACH=CONFIG]48334[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]48335[/ATTACH] Looks much better now on close inspection - just a couple more things to do in due time... Kev_VR6 0 Posted August 18, 2011 Bought a new 90mm splitter last week just in time for Tatton, then on the way home my car was running rough. It turned out to be the Idle Stabilisation Valve. Tried the cleaning method as mentioned on here but it didn't work so I had to buy a new one. VW wanted £340 (inc VAT and the plastic cap which had broken, worth £40 alone) but as it was a Bosch part I tried Euro Car Parts, and they did it for £120 + VAT. Decent saving there. You could try giving it a clean with carb cleaner first though. Just make sure you take it off the car (don't do it in place with engine running like the instructions advise). In March at MOT time it was giving a few problems and Graham gave it a clean up - might be time to just invest in a new one. Now ECP Bosch £150 or Worldcarparts chinese copy for £60? I'll think on. I've been busy since the respray (back in July) concentrating on getting the C ready for the upcoming shows. I had to take it back to the spray shop in August to have my cills smoothed as I wasn't happy with the rough surface. I am chuffed to bits now though as they managed to smooth them whilst still protecting them with the stone chip paint. Best of both worlds :dance: [ATTACH=CONFIG]50985[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]50986[/ATTACH] I purchased a new 90mm splitter to go on too [ATTACH=CONFIG]50987[/ATTACH] And last but not least, I've just had my wheels professionally refurbed [ATTACH=CONFIG]50988[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]50989[/ATTACH] I've gone for Smoked chrome centres with a polished lip.Sorry the pictures don't really show the colour up too well...I'll take some better ones when we get a bright enough day...I got them done at The Wheel Specialist in Manchester. They did my Speedlines last year and did a cracking job. The finish on these though is truly stunning. The guy made me promise I'd email him pics when they're on the car so he can use them in his adverts :cheers: Thats it for now... Cars like yours and dedication that you put into it make not just inspirational vehicles but also highlights what can be done with solid effort and skills, without resorting to Max Power bling and nonsense like that. Reminds me that I've also got a rear beam in my garage since about 2 years that i have been planning to strip down and refurb... Alternator is a minor hiccup! Wow cheers Hasan mate thats really nice of you. There's a lot of places to get inspiration from on here but yours is up there with the best of them. I think you've got it spot on mate with the combination of mods you've got... Few little things to do now - I need to get my all red rears toned down a bit, get my new alternator fitted, have the inlet manifold spruced up then I'm stopping haha. Kev_VR6 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Been a while since my last update,but not been idle. Firstly the alternator let me down on Boxing Day while i was out for a quick spin,needed the AA to get me home. Good news was i got hold of a brand new one off a mate for a good price,also got a new pulley and aux.belt to go with it. In order to fit this I decided the best way was to take off the inlet manifold and then get that polished as that was something i'd always fancied and also while doing the alternator i could easily fit the low milage power steering pump that i'd had for a while and also clean up the mounting bracket and get various bolts and bits and bobs replaced or replated. The manifold and all the bits went off to RS Electroplaters who aren't far from where i live, and while access was easy, I decided to refurb the fuel injectors, using an ultrasonic cleaner, with new filters, caps and seals which I bought in a kit off eBay. Found a couple of them weren't working too well so bought another set of 6 second-hand and chose the best 6 to refurb. Not too difficult a job to do...plenty of info on the net on how to do it... Tried something different with the engine cover painted it satin black,but sanded it smooth first. Got 2 new caps for the bbs wheels,one had to come from the factory in Germany and i was told it was the last one...! They took a long time but they've turned out great :D They're polished stainless steel with the corrado logo engraved in the centre. Missed my old ones that had the logo on, which couldn't be salvaged when the car was resprayed last year. I got some brand new ones from vw heritage, but when they arrived they were hearing aid beige! Any takers? ;) Then I got some black ones off Andy (C5 OEM) but ended up never using those as I saw the DDI alloy ones, but I decided to design my own, using stainless with it being harder wearing... fla 9 Posted July 6, 2012 those really are nice Kev. Might need some advice - i have done a 'cheapo' version of your sills cover, with having the Corrado logo stuck on to some stainless covers. I've fitted them so the lip goes downwards facing out towards the door. Just taken one off and removed the original black ones. First one was a sheet metal working company ,and they took weeks to get them done, then i found an engraving company who could work with stainless steel, the boss there said he'd do them as a one off but in future they'd need them flat. This would mean that the folding would have to be done later, and the guy at the sheet metal place couldn't guarantee keeping the logo in position. I've paid to have the logo redrawn as a hi-res image, plus the cost of the plates and engraving adds up to around £100. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
