GrahamU 5 Posted January 22, 2012 Looks good....when you say you plugged the engine loom into the fusebox, I presume it was a CE2 QPeng loom or similar? I've gone OEM using an ECU from an AGU. Had it all running in my mk1 before the change of plans and as the mk1 is converted to use a corrado dash and fusebox it all plugs into this car without to much hassle. ---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 PM ---------- what are the advantages of a mk4 expansion tank? The top comes of easier
odub 0 Posted January 22, 2012 oh, I may not worry too much about that seeing as my tank is new. thanks though

GrahamU 5 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Been a while since I updated this and it looks like not alot of progress but it not far of being road worthy now. Brakes fitted still need to bleed them as I sheered of a bleed nipple, grrr Got the front mostly back together Just needs the spoiler fitting and of corse the bonnet spraying All turbo/intercooler pipes are now fitted to the engine and had a turbo in pipe adaptor made so I can run a 70mm hose from the filter to the maf and to the turbo Got some different wheels for it as well am thinking they will look good in white Now changing the cluster for a late one so the tacho works, just need to change the wiring for the indicators and the low coolent light hopefully it will be back on the ground this weekend so I can get it on the drive and put the Recaros in. Will be good to drive it but then I still have a long list to improve it. Edited January 27, 2023 by GrahamU
GrahamU 5 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Finally got it out of the garage and although a little naughty, I did run it up the road and back to find it only had 5 psi. looks like the lack of psi was down to a faulty maf which showed up as a fault code from the ECU, hopefully it will boost a bit better now Not much left to make it road worthy Edited January 27, 2023 by GrahamU
Big Adam 0 Posted May 1, 2012 Good effort, cant wait to get mine back on the road
GrahamU 5 Posted May 13, 2012 (edited) fitted the interior today, thought I would get away with just a hoover but I think the seats need a vax. Edited January 27, 2023 by GrahamU
GrahamU 5 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Been a while since I updated this and it doesnt seem that I'm that much further forward, just as I think its almost ready to hit the road I find or decide to do something else.. So I got it out of the garage, then decided to have a play with the sunroof and roof lining stripped the old lining and recovered it with a fake alcontara also covered the inside of the sunroof Bought some more goodies the brembo's are from a renault clio 197/megane 225 and were different colours so I got them cheap at £100, the coilovers are a bit knackered (that will teach me to take the word of someone saying they were good. The turbo is a K03s which will get fitted when the engines run in a bit. Fitted my boost gauge and a OBD2 port Fitted an electronic tailgate release using a passat boot lock solonoid and then fitted a smooth rear plate mount I'm currently waiting for a guy at work to draw up and FEA some caliper brackets but while I wait I decided to fab up some of my own They seem to fit ok I've now painted the calipers and put some new stickers on Then while this has been going on I've also been smoothing the front bumper got it filled now and just want to be happy with the fiinish before spraying it Today I had a go at the dent in the wing Before After Thats it for now Edited January 27, 2023 by GrahamU
GrahamU 5 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Put a couple of covers over the engine and rad so it looks a bit neater And I finished the bumper so had a go at spraying it, Hasn't come out to bad, got a couple of flys stuck in it though 😞 But it is on now and will do till I can improve my spraying or get the whole car sprayed Just need to fit my LEDs in the headlights for indicators, re-bleed the brakes, tidy a couple of filled areas of bodywork and put the carpet back down in the passenger side and its MOT time Edited January 27, 2023 by GrahamU
OllieVR6 0 Posted August 2, 2012 Those coilovers don't look too bad mate, just need a clean. The cars looking good though, I like the smoothed bumper! Would be interested in a bit more detail about the boot popper as well.
GrahamU 5 Posted August 2, 2012 I'll get some pics of the boot popper at the weekend but for now have a look at this http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4783327-MK3-Hatch-Popper-DIY-enjoy! I deleted my rear wiper so I used the supply from that for the solonoid, its also a switched supply only powered with ign which is what I wanted

Rob_B 0 Posted October 28, 2012 For anyone that wants to do this conversion, head along to the Qpeng website. The guide on there is fantastic. Although its a daunting task for the inexperienced, it's not impossible. I just go by the thinking of what's the worst that can happen?
