Spoiler speed

Recommended Posts

I have just got another Corrado and the spoiler seems to raise at 60mph. Is this normal? My last Corrado raised at about 40-50.

Yep,quite normal,i swapped my spoiler control box for a later one, mine now raises similiar speeds to you !

you can get a box from a left hand drive model that raises it at 75mph !

I'd actually prefer it to raise at 40ish. I have a complete spoiler + tailgate left from my last one. Any chance the control box is located in the tailgate?

No, It's under the dash by the button for the spoiler.

Take the fusebox cover out, undo eight screws holding the drivers shelf in,pull shelf out and you can change the box from here !

Just be aware that very early models have a different plug connection than later ones for the spoiler control module.

As for raising and lowering speeds, the Corrado is designed for the spoiler to raise at 72mph IIRC. This obviously caused some issues for the UK model as the legal limit is a bit less than that! So early models came with a raised speed of 47mph instead. This speed was changed with the introduction of the VR to give a sportier feel to 58mph.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the thread resurrection. The spoiler on my corrado comes up at over 70 so guessing (given what I’ve read here) that the ecu has been replaced at some point for an eu one...?

Anyway, plenty about on eBay etc. I’ve got the cover off from under the steering wheel, but I’m none the wiser as to where exactly the ecu is? I can just see all the fuses and relays? Anyone got a picture??

Many thanks in advance

Cluffy

It's by your right knee !

There's a metal bracket on the cabin side of the dash,180 degrees from the fuse box.

What year is your Corrado ?

As the very early ones had a different spoiler module,(70mph) that I don't think are interchangeable with the later 45 & 58 mph ones

That’s a bugger if true. Mine is a 93 VR6...

Vr's are the later module,

It is possible to change the "diodes" inside the box to tailor it to your own requirements

There was a how-to on the old Canadian Corrado forum

Which is what I understood from the threads I’ve read, the “B” part number?

Confuses me more as to why mine doesn’t work until such high speed if they’re not interchangeable...!

Are they for sale?

Hoping to pop out in the afternoon to figure it out

Can you take the cover off and inspect the board inside? It could just be the capacitors have died due to age?

Hi,

So I’ve removed mine and the part number is ‘D’ on the end. Figment looks exactly like your ‘C’ though... do you know what speed a ‘C’ should switch the spoiler up?
