Madjackal 0 Posted January 10, 2012 Does Audioscape still exist and are they still making these. If I buy decent speakers will the door pods really make a big difference?
cheesy 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Are you looking for some audioscape pods?
fla 9 Posted February 20, 2012 dont think they exist any more although the main guy is trading under a different name, i'm sure someone has the details to hand. Pods will make a difference as the standard ones are too light.
Abdul 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Even then they're still no good if you really like your music as the mids are still mounted to the doorcards. Spoonfed tunings doorpod set up is the best yet by a long way but it's not cheap.

They are about £500! they do look good but i bet someone with good router skills and mdf could make them
Portent 0 Posted February 20, 2012 To summarise the above: Standard pods - Poor quality sound due to small speaker size and mounting to the pod itself. Audioscape - Improved quality sound due to large speaker size and more solid construction. However they are not available new anymore and are therefore (1) quite expensive on the used market, (2) will probably have one or two marks on them unless you refurbish. There have also been some comments on them reducing access into the cabin as they are slightly larger. Spoonfed - These look great, don't appear to have the issue of larger size, should be brand new, and allow large speakers for improved quality. They also mount the speakers onto the door itself so should be much better quality. However they are very expensive and an amp/sub setup would be cheaper. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 20, 2012 The Audioscape pods used to make a MASSIVE difference. Some of the guys here will remember my car being used as Audioscape's demonstrator at inters 05. The bass you can get out of decent mids almost negates the need for a sub!
Abdul 0 Posted February 20, 2012 There is no way the audioscapes can substitute a proper mounting to a sealed door I'm sorry. If you think They made for good midbass output you haven't really heard a good sound system. There is also no way that they can negate the need for a sub. The difference between the bass that a set of 6.5" midrange speakers make and a sub make is miles apart. Most people don't realise what they're missing though. Your mids might be able to play down to 30hz at low volumes but try turning it up while driving and watch them die a slow death. Basically audioscapes are ok and that's about it. Spoonfed's aren't just about lookin pretty (which they do). The point is to mount the mids to the doors for proper midbass, not the girly stuff. For your average joe the audioscapes will suffice. For anyone into their music take a look at the spoonfeds or make your own which is what I'm doing.

Abdul 0 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Rob, your ears can hear it mate, you think you cant hear it because you've not heard a stereo capable of playin it lol. Oh and it's a secret until its done, if it fails I'll have to fork out for spoonfeds. You can feel it too if u play it loud enough lol. Rams, straight to the door mate, trying to keep the standard pods too. Sorry if my last post came across harsh btw, just trying to get a point across. It's very much a case of you don't know what your missing until you've experienced it. :) Edited February 20, 2012 by Abdul
Portent 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Not a million miles from what I said £400 you can easy make so good ones  It would cost me £800 to make my own as I'd balls it up the first time and have to start again :D

Portent 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Lol that's how I feel about tackling oily jobs lol. Any luck with your pods yet Adrian? They are currently sat in a box until I can get some speakers and sound deadening for them. I've got a week off at the end of March so I'll probably get everything delivered and then put them in during that week. I've got kids so it's hard to get any other time. I'm also undecided on whether to amp them. I know it will make a difference but I know what will happen; I'll keep looking at better and better setups, then get addicted to it, and end up spending at least £1k on audio, which I really don't want to do. So I'll probably just go the simple route and put the pods and speakers on and leave any further changes to later.

Without wanting to derail this thread too much, where do you plan to put the tweeters? Cut into the door card in some way or mounted onto the plastic triangle trim by the A pillar / mirrors? robo22sri 10 Posted February 20, 2012 forgot about the thread jack  I havent thought that far ahead, the a pillar trim would be a good place, mount the tweeter base and fibre glass it and spray ;) will look oem+
gti gadge 0 Posted March 7, 2012 Just got some Audioscapes then read this, you guys just pooped all over them ha..ha.. Watching the outcome on tweeter position also. I'm tone deaf so decent is good enough for me. Jacking the thread a little but any ideas on places to get vinyl to cover the Audioscapes, they are beige, I need black
fla 9 Posted August 25, 2016 Those of you who have installed audioscapes how have you strengthened the door cards to prevent flex? I find that my door cards bulge out at the horizontal join between the upper and lower sections of the card
