daves16v 1 Posted July 31, 2012 I've got some Silicone hose that I need to shorten, anyone advise the best method to cut it cleanly? Obvious methods come to mind such as a Stanley knife or maybe a fine tooth hacksaw blade? Thanks for any help.

lewvw 10 Posted July 31, 2012 A NEW stanley blade will be the best bet. Unless VR6 will lend you his laser but this may melt the hose.

MattPc 0 Posted July 31, 2012 If you can get a piece of hard plastic pipe or sheet, wrap this at the point of cutting, this will act as a guide giving you a smooth clean cut. A large retractable knife is best, as they're longer than the old Stanley blade. or speak to Dr evil he has sharks with lasers on their heads. bristolbaron 11 Posted July 31, 2012 i went for a new stanley blade not in the knife. tighten a jubilee clip where you want to cut so you have an edge to go against. this will get you most of the way around, loosen and retighten so you can do the bit where it does up. Ditto, did this with a freshly sharpened house knife and worked a treat :)

daves16v 1 Posted August 1, 2012 I should of mentioned the tube is 80mm dia with a 5mm internally braided wall, the usual Samco type stuff. Cheers for the gags and the suggestions.
