Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 22, 2014 I sold a book of the raffle tickets to a work mate because he really wanted the breitling watch prize. He didn't win and went out and bought one after that.

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 22, 2014 Spitfires and the Lancs fly over my way a few times a year and the thrum of those merlin engines is a thing of beauty. I can only imagine what 100s of spities must have sounded like during WW2! Seeing / hearing them is an instant patriotism buzz.

16VG60 1 Posted August 25, 2014 Stealth, mmmmm not quite! :-) Vulcan was about as stealthy as a wagon full of monkeys! At the time of the Falklands war, when I was in the Army, there was a great cartoon in the Mess picturing a pair of Argies in their trench, their eyes fixed to the heavens watching a Vulcan overhead. One Argie says to the other " if that's the size of their aircraft, just how big is the carrier!"
