Dollyman 10 Posted February 19, 2015 Hi, I am in the unfortunate position of having lost my solitary key and alarm fob for the Corrado causing untold aggo! So I have ordered some duplicate keys from VW (hoping that the car still has the original locks) and I have no reason to suppose otherwise as the key I had fitted everything. More unfortunately the car has a Toad AI606 alarm (fitted in 2009) and I only had one fob. DOH! So once I can get access to the car, I understand that I could either a) get some progammable fobs for the existing alarm but I will need to get the serial number off of the control box to see if TOAD can find out the pin code or b) simply replace the control box - whihc will presumably come with fobs. For either I will need to find out where the control box for the alarm is, anyone know where these tend to end up being hidden in a Corrado? Finally I will need to get the car recovered to VW to hve the keys coded in. What a palaver! Thanks Jeff Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
seanl82 23 Posted February 19, 2015 Alarm modules are generally fitted behind the dash. If you remove the undertrays both sides, you should be able to locate it. Favourite hiding places are behind the glove box, being the centre console, or if it's been a lazy fitter, shoved up somewhere around the fusebox. Roger Chatfield 0 Posted February 19, 2015 You can add new fobs to the toad alarm as long as you have the access pin. I highly rate the 606, fitted a few of these now and have never had a problem with them, when I find five spare minutes I'll be replacing my Clifford G4 with a 606... Bloody hate the Clifford. Rog. Dollyman 10 Posted April 15, 2015 OK I am rapidly running out of ideas/ options with this. It transpires that VW cannot supply a replacement key as they no longer have the key serial numbers for a car of this age (1995) Cannot seem to get a 2nd hand lock set (none of those available are the immobiliser transponder chip type which was fitted to my car) Options seem to be 1) hoping VW can supply a replacementlock set but I dread to think how much that might cost.2) Just scrap the car If anyone has any suggestions as to alternative courses of action please let me know Cheers Jeff Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Jim 2 Posted April 15, 2015 Regarding the VW transponder system, someone with knowledge of VAG-COM can delete / disable / bypass it.. it might be worth contacting a specialist like Stealth Racing and seeing if you post off your ECU, whether they can bypass it? Then regarding the incumbent alarm system - just rip the whole lot out and get a new one installed. Someone like Andy @ Trim Wizard charges very reasonable prices and knows Corrado's very well. Dollyman 10 Posted April 28, 2015 Chhers Jim, spoketo Stealth but not easliy done with the 16V ECU (although the VR6 no problem), however, finally some good news! My friendly neighborhood auto locksmiths have managed to open the car, cut 2 new keys, located the transponder chip and coded them in. Now the final step - onto the TOAD alarm! I gather from TOAD that they should be able to give me the pin code so I can programme in some new fobs so now I just need to find the alarm box (fairly sure it is behind the glove box somewhere) and get the serial no. Dollyman 10 Posted May 18, 2015 All systems are go! Alarm pin code entered, fob coded in and have now managed to drive the Rado for the first time in months. One slight problem though, was whilst unlocking the passenger side door (with key), there was a bit if a clunk as something fell down inside the door and the lock barrel came of of the door! I guess some retaining clip or screw wasn't done up correctly, after the locksmith had put the lock back after taking it out to cut the new key.
