coullstar 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Yeah sorry ACF50, never used it before but heard many bikers recommend it so thought Id try it.
coullstar 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Well got that car sealed underneath. Decided to take the discs off to have a look and the outer set of pads just fell apart. Rear of the discs was knackered. God knows how long they've been like this, no wonder they were feeling crap.
chubbybrown 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Well it's nice you felt the suspension required something. It's going to be another nice car once you gave it your style of tlc Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
coullstar 0 Posted November 2, 2016 Thanks, bit annoying that Im having to do all this straight away, up to £800 already spent on it since Ive had it and still need to replace rear shocks at a minimum. Offending items. You can see there was next to no normal pad contact area. To be fair outers looked okay. Just looked back and its EBC ultimax discs and red stuff pads. Just looks like it lack of use.
mic_VR 3 Posted November 2, 2016 Wow, that's pretty bad. When did it pass the MOT? That's got to be a fail.
coullstar 0 Posted November 2, 2016 July, to be fair they looked okay on the car but yeah if you were looking hard enough you would have noticed. Kind of glad I bought this now to look after it properly as I think its been passed around to much in recent years hence why certain bits haven't been replaced as they looked fine. coullstar 0 Posted November 4, 2016 Okay bit bored at work so thought Id put some details on the other current cars in the fleet. 1st is the Rs4, had this coming up for about 5 years now. Love it to bits, best car Ive ever had by a country mile and it will never be sold. Mildly tuned to around 480bhp and takes the abuse in its stride. Currently sitting on some 9.5x19in wheels but I think I'll go back to standards wheels again. 2nd I bought about 3 months ago. T5 Shuttle 2.5 130tdi with rear bench removed. Should have bought one years ago, again its brilliant and just so handy. Swallows anything Ive thrown at it. Its actually quite fun to drive. Not done much but hoping to lower it and remap then get some banded steels wheels on. Its the daily driver now and family car.
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted November 4, 2016 nice - i really like your T5! i am considering moving the valver over for a T25 or maybe a proper bay window but funds at present dont allow saw a great T25 crew cab pick up a few weeks ago online, hmmm lusting! lol
coullstar 0 Posted November 4, 2016 See Im not so into the old air cooled stuff. I like it an a retro way but wouldn't own one I think. Too slow... The T5 is ace but its more of what it can do for me. It get used and abused by the kids!!!
coullstar 0 Posted November 4, 2016 So new brakes fitted and fitted the VW blue/chrome wheel caps.
coullstar 0 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) So I picked up some 17in BBS RC's with tyres. They were in gloss black with silver caps and badges and I want to change colour for not by spraying them then will get them properly refurbed next spring. I tried a chrome type paint last night but it didn't really come out great when lacquer was applied, went a bit blotchy. Thoughts are either just go normal silver and run centre caps or I have some satin grey. I also have the option of using some red bbs centre caps that will fit into the wheel centres when main caps are removed. A bit like the photos. Thoughts? Silver with main centre caps, satin grey with silver main centre caps or satin grey with main caps removed and replaced with red BBS? ChrisL 20 Posted November 23, 2016 For me it would be silver with the main centre caps fitted.
coullstar 0 Posted November 23, 2016 I think Im going for as close to the original finish as possible for the refurb so was thinking of trying something different. I'll see how there looking when I get home, there not offensively bad but not that great.
odub 0 Posted November 23, 2016 For me it would be silver with the main centre caps fitted. I'm thinking the same but with the bbs logo instead of the vw logo

VR6Andy 10 Posted December 2, 2016 Looks really good...have you tried finding a BBS centre decal to fit....seems to be a few available on Ebay that are a lot cheaper than a new centre cap...!!!

Yeah Ive seen them, they are actually chrome effect VW ones that are on at the moment and I prefer the lighter centre caps. Ideally a set of the RC chrome ones but there like hens teeth now. coullstar 0 Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) So about 3months in and..............I feel like selling. Nothing particular wrong but I just don't have time or inclination to look after two older cars right now. The Rs4 is going nowhere so it would have to be the Corrado. Maybe its the time of year, lack of daylight etc etc but I just feel that Id rather have something like a Mk5 Gti right now, it would suit me much better. The car itself is great, run fine etc etc so it has to be something else. Edited January 23, 2017 by coullstar
coullstar 0 Posted February 27, 2017 So bought these last week and fitted them at the weekend. There 5x100 so straight bolt on. Needed 10mm front spacers and rears need to come out to suit. Its also highlighted that I need coilovers and tyres are not quite the right size. Looks like rear wheel bearing is going as well so may as well do rear discs etc as well. It was a gamble and im not 100% sure on them if Im honest. Don't know if its the colour of them against the car. Maybe just a drop will help as the other photo attached are the same spec wheels.
