It must be a very early one then.... the first Corrados that were built had very few gizmos.... people werent happy about it so VW added them quickly.... hence most have full electrics... but the early ones had no electric windows / sunroof / etc...

So yes I'd find another example.... if IMAO try and pick up one of the last 1.8 16V's (J plate) ......

Well our 16 valver has 'poverty' spec it is a 1989 car.

it is one of the first in the country but not a 'press car'

It has no electric sunroof or Electric windows, less to go wrong I think.

and I can confirm that it does have electric mirrors that are heated,it also has the windscreen washer nozzle heaters too.

I consider poverty spec to be more rare as its over looked therefore sought after people like me who search for low milers with Full vw service history !

The wifes car has 51k on it and was serviced and brake service too at a vw dealership every 2k until it came into our driveway at 45k,

all I can say is that Im not that loaded so it gets its vw inspection once a year along with specialist treatment when needed. :p

The electric window and sunroofless 16V is the ultimate driver's C. A more rigid chassis (No sunroof hole, no roof flex!) and a little less weight. Strap a Turbo Technics kit to it and it would be the ultimate C and cheap/easy to produce. 210+bhp for around £5000 inc the car........ if you can get hold of a s/hand TT kit.

VWs were like that in the 80s...... cobbled together to meet deadlines and a strong or weak mark against the pound dictated what you got as standard kit. The MK2 GTI lost it's alloys, central locking and electric windows in 88/89 when the mark crashed - and they still charged the same! And the the following year, PAS, big bumpers, electrics and C/L were all standard! Ze Germans, you gotta love em!
