Do you have the full part# ? You might still be able to get a new Bosch unit - if it's used you're after, there's plenty on eBay or try the Corrado facebook groups.

I haven't had any experience of it, but it's claimed that a Golf 5 V5 one will fit with some minor work, or is even a direct replacement, although that would be too easy.

Any use? Seems a good price too - I'd stay away from the other cheap Chinese copies on there ("Ridex", anyone?) the names are pretty hilarious.

Thanks for the reply - to be honest its for a car that i dont know if its worth saving (almost 200k) - just want something to get it moving again

Fitted a battery only to hear a series of clicks

Bloody hell there is some amount of crap on ebay

I think ridex is auto docs own brand ?? - seems to be everywhere on its site

Ah ok - could be corrosion on the starter connections or a shot solenoid - will it jump start?  Ignition switch could also be faulty.

Does the engine turn with a socket on the crank?

I have removed the starter will call to a local auto spark to test it

Ignition switch - forgot about that one !

When you move it to start to you hear the starter solenoid click? If not, it's prob seized but can be easily sorted once you remove it

Edit: sorry, noticed you've already removed it. Try applying power direct to the solenoid
