Corrado vr6 vs sierra cosworth

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised to hear that the VR6 is as close to the cossies as this debate suggests. I always thought that the cossies would chew up a corrado and spit out the pieces :?

In standard road tune they're nothing exciting, but it's exactly the same engine that went into the mental WRC cars. As people have said, there is really very little effort needed to get silly levels of power out of them. Then they'll eat you for lunch...

"I dunno.. one of these came past me the other night on the way home from Longleat - heard a car coming along side, heard a turbo spool up and he went like someone had just put a stick of dynamite in his car. I wouldn't have stood a chance."

I must admit when i first saw the cosworth he looked like he was flying but dont all turbo cars 'feel' fast and whereas our old corrado vr6' s dont feel quite as neck jarring as turbos but you' ve only gotta look down at how fast the speedo is going past 70, 80,90. They just dont feel fast but they do go quite well, have more faith in your vr' s lads.

I'm amazed you even found a standard cossie! I thought they were all tuned to f*ck?

well, except that 3 door one I chased across a moor road a few years ago in my mk2 that couldn't get away from me....

They are rar Paul, and for that reason alone are a rather amazing sight if you come across one on the road as I did earlier in the summer on the A34. Looked fantastic - very low key. Even had a stock exhaust system on it !

There is a totally standard Gun metal Sapphire Cosworth at work. I think he suscribes to the school of "I don't want to put a hole in my piston" way of thinking. And good on him. The Rally prepared MK2 Escort parked next to it p1sses all over it though

I've driven all the cossies, the 2whd one does go quick apart from its notchy german gearbox (borg +warner?)

anyway the 4whd one got the mt75 gearbox on ballbearings, similar to transit ones btw anyway

Im surprised nobody has mentioned the RS500 and the one I drove is probably one of the fastest cars Ive driven

and Ive driven many vehicles over the years.

oh it did have the extra injector fitted.

Would a vr6 do 150mph ?

I had a 2wh drive one on a private road (A9) sitting at that even if ford speedos are suspect

I wont tell you how much the RS500 pissed over that car,I was so shocked ! :D :D :D :D

he cudnt pull on me at all.

All the way up to an indicated 150. (private road of course)

Im hoping VR6Storm would have had some specs on here about RS500's

They were a RS dealer supply only,

they were so cool the cops used to stop you when using trade plates just to have a look and a seat in one 8)
