    Turns out I wired up the connections to the lambda wrongly! Rechecked it, swapped them around to the correct positions and now it runs sweet as a nut!

    Going to book it in for its mot now so fingers crosssd

    You sorted it, so a great result

    It is only rough running when warm. If I unplug the water temp sensor it runs fine on the open circuit, when up at temp.

    Have replaced water temp sensor and lambda sensor and it is still the same.

    I am presuming now things like leads and rotor, dizzy cap etc are all good as it does run well and is more an ecu based issue (either ecu itself, or what the ecu controls on the basis of the lambda and temp readings) 

    Wondering if fifth injector is stuck open as unplugging it makes no difference when running rough as I suspect it is overfuelling not running lean.

    It's a ballache!

    Worth checking the WUR to see if that does shut off. I have an 8v mk2 kjetronic and club GTi has a wealth of info on there

    Welcome back mate. I did see that car for sale and thought, What a beauty. A very special car indeed. Congratulations on your purchase of it, and coming back on here. 

    There can't be anything you would change on it, surely.

    For the record I have 2 EVs as my dailys, both Tesla (oooohhhh Elon builds them all in his shed, how can you support such a person) and have taken one to the Scottish Hebrides, France and the other, with a smaller battery pack, I covered 600 miles in one day (due to a funeral) and it was no bother at all. Turns out I did need to stop for a wee on my journey. It only ever wants a 5-15 mins top up anyway on roadtrips. And it is dirt cheap and smoother and better driving than any modern diesel or small petrol car I have had in recent years. I can't say I have ever enjoyed the driving dynamics of a 2.0 TDI anyway, and let's be honest that is what most people are dailying.

    Cmon matt, get a Corrado project and make it EV 😋

    The good news is that she passed. I have advisories on rear wheel bearings, which is fine. Buy cheap-buy twice. When originally doing the car I could only afford cheap ones, and didn't know a better make. Just ordered some FAG ones, ready for when I have time.

    Sadly, I only did 782 miles in a year. Probably because I have a mk2 GTI project in it's way. That I  need to sell for someone else to finish. Hopefully I'm moving soon so it may make it easier to get to Karmann
