  1. I checked on a american site and there are 'A' chassis and 'B' chassis, the A chassis has 5x100 and the B chassis has 5x112, god only knows how you tell the difference other than physically measuring them! I'll check with dealer tomorrow, pretending to be interested in the car of course
  2. Took some effort to find some pics of the wheels I want as they are quite rare VW MK4 Golf ones, have only seen a handful wearing these rims but they are lush in my opinion and might suit corrados. http://www.volkswagen.r66.co.uk/new/nat ... eId=123157 Anyone know what the stud pattern of MK4 Golfs and VR6 Corrados are? Hopefully they're both 5x100. I'll ring the stealer tomorrow for a wheel model and offset info etc but anyone know if that wheel company that come to inters have them? Or there number? Cheers Kev
  3. Nice one, this is the ONLY reason I went for the Inpro rear lights (wouldn't dream of spending £250 normally) as they suit that paint colour perfectly. They would also look good on a silver Corrado, again, don't see many of those about either! Can you still get touch up pens for yours and other Corrados from the dealer? My shade has been discontinued as you know  Cheers Kev
  4. May not have been a storm then but it was wearing Solitudes so just assumed it was! It was definitlely a dark browny/purple colour though. Didn't see the back end as I was too far away, just saw the colour and a lock of grey hair! Cool, I've quite got a rare shade of paint on mine then 8) ! I must admit, when I pulled onto the forecourt and saw it gleaming, it did stand out from other corrados I've seen I must admit. Kev
  5. Well results can vary but I know someone with this mod in his Golf 2.016v (Corrado sourced engine) and that puts out the 165bhp I mentioned. You can add a vernier pulley to this conversion too if you like. Vince saw a 10ft/lb increase in torque across the whole rev-range on an Audi 2.0 16V using one of these pulleys.
  6. I saw 5 in one day today, I was not best pleased!! 1 Aubergine (I think) Storm driven by an old lady. 2 red ones lowered and driven by boy racers. 1 Aubergine non storm, late 20s chap 1 Dragon green non storm jobbie, middle aged chap. It's always the same, whenever you buy a new car, all you see are more of them!! I've yet to see another Ice grey violet metallic one though Cheers Kev 94 VR6
  7. My god, what a pair of ugly ducklings.
  8. Forgot to say, AmD do they Shrick conversion too. http://www.auto-amd.com/corrado.asp Cheers Kev 94 VR6
  9. That £1750 fitted price is from Stealth, they source it. The actual manifold itself is £1500+VAT. One thing many places won't tell you though is the manifold is three piece and you have to take it apart to get to the spark plugs. No real biggy as plugs last ages and Vince reckons taking it apart is a piece of cake. Only snag is it's an engine mod and insurance companies don't the like the VR6 as it is. You need someone like Brentacre to insure it who give you a BHP limit and you can do anything you like to the car (except roll cage), so long as it doesn't exceed, say 250bhp. I'm with AXA and I don't know yet how strict they are with mods!! Kev 94 VR6
  10. That's my thinking exactly, if you can get a Turn2 in there, you can get a drain pipe in there. Fixing to the airbox is easy. If you look at the drainpipe accessories in B&Q, you'll see loads of adaptors and brackets and things which should fit into the airbox OK. You can use grey foam to hold the pipe still in the wing apeture. I haven't lifted the bonnet of my car for ages, so all this is just from memory but I reckon it'll be easy with a dremel, some black sealant and various pipe accessories though. Don't forget the engine only sucks in what it needs and the effects of RAM air are debateable but at least the air will be cold. Car & Car Conversions did a big investigation into filters and they measured a pressure increase of 0.4psi in the airbox when given a 100mph wind! The engine would barely notice that! Cheers Kev 94 VR6
  11. Out of interest, why the change from G60 to normally aspirated 16V? Kev
  12. They probably disturbed something when they did the old exhaust shake to check it's secured to the car properly. I wouldn't be too peeved though as they may have inadvertantly uncovered an underlying problem? Cheers Kev 94 VR6
  13. You can't get that pulley from anywhere except the stealer, but as I say, check the car has it before assuming the worst! I can't really explain much about it other than if you've got two pulleys side-by-side on the crankshaft, then you have this troublsome pulley I mentioned, if you've got just the one pulley, ignore what I said. I wouldn't put WD40 on any rubber, it's petroleum based and therefore eats rubber. Use Halfords Rubber & Plastic Silicon maintanence spray instead, comes in a yellow can and sits next to the spray grease on the shelves. Fact of the day - WD 40 got it's name from being right after the 40th attempt at the blend! Ta Kev 94 VR6
  14. The Shrick VSR is a nice idea, gives 25ft/lb extra at 3000 rpm plus more top end power and torque. At £1750 fitted though, it's half way toward the Supercharger conversion!
  15. Did you guys order your Turn2 stuff from the states or is there a UK stockist? Has anyone tried their engine mount? They claim no harshness from the poly insert, sounds too good to be true! Regarding insurance, how much are they likely to sting you on coloured lights? My external mods consist of Lupo wipers, blue side repeaters, colour coded VW emblem at the back and In pro rear clusters. Should I tell em?? Re the airbox, I had an idea today....how about getting a peice of right angle black drain pipe, cut a circular hole in the bottom half of the box to fit the pipe diameter and then route the 90 degree bend into the wing cavity? Looks stock and works to the same principals as the Turn2 mod....and a lot cheaper! Cheers Kev 94 VR6

  17. G60, we have our fair share of idiots too and fewer cops to contend with, so our 70mph limit is rarely adhered to. You may have low speed limits but that's no reason why you should be denied the same accelerative power. We have lower speed limits than the Germans but we still get the same spec as theirs.
  18. There's sweet FA about the 16V in the Haynes book anyway. One thing to watch when doing the belts is the water pump/PAS pulley. If it's the same as the Golf 16V, it will be a viscous coupling variety. Basically, this pulley (the large one) has a special coupling inside it to allow the PAS pulley to spin at different rate to the water pump pulley. It's a god awful bit of design and they break really easily, splitting in two. They make a horrid rattling noise when they're screwed too. They cost £150 from the dealer, so try not to knock it about too much when you're down there. If there is only one pulley on the crankshaft, ignore this as it will be the same configuration as the 8V. As for the whining noise, sounds like the cambelt is too tight. I would replace the belt anyway as a matter of course (only use VAG belts) and the tensioner too. Correct tension on 16V belts is debateable as VW claim you have to use a dial guage to set the tension. Arse, I've been running valvers for a decade and you simply need to tighten it enough so that you can only just twist the belt 90 degrees with your fingers. If you can twist it further with ease, you are either Arnlold Schwarzengger or it's too slack. Cheers Kev 94 VR6
  19. Actually, thinking about it guys, only the inlet cam is different to the KR on the 2.0 engine, so you just need a KR - or another 2.0 - exhaust cam to replace the 2.0 inlet cam. Don't expect night and day differences but it definitely makes an improvement. 165ish brake is the norm for a de-cat'd 2.0 with KR cams, so you should get around that figure. Kev 94 VR6
  20. Cost would be the amount a breaker charges for two exhaust cams (yes, two exhaust cams) but you need to send one of them off (the one you're going to use for the inlet cam) to Stealth Racing as the end gear needs re-alignment. I think he already has some ready done, can't remember cost. This is a trick the tuners used to do years ago to get a little more out of th 16V without spending a fortune on Shricks or getting the associated lumpy idle. Idle is unchanged with this 2 exhaust cam mod and many people, myself included, found bottom end improved also. Fitting can be done by any competent home mechanic and would be a good time to do the chain too! Speak to stealth about the exhaust cam for the inlet though as you can't just bung it in without the little mod first. Kev 94 VR6
  21. Fit two KR exhaust cams mate, makes a big difference and I guarantee you won't lose bottom end torque. Good for 165bhp and 145lb/ft torque. Kev 94 VR6
  22. Don't do it! I test drove a Honda Civic Type R in January when I had dillusions of owning a brand new car (after being fed up with feeding old bangers so much cash) but I wasn't impressed. I only tried it because the motoring press raved on about it so much but it's merely an over-sprung, under geared buzz box. The only good thing about it was the awesome gear change, which was as light and fluid as a joystick and mounted on the dash, which is a lot more natural than it sounds - takes seconds to get used to and you wonder why all manufacturers don't do that. I was so glad I got the Corrado, a lot smoother, a lot quieter and just as quick. The only reason Type Rs are quick is because the gear ratios are ridiculously short, oh and the 'magic' V tec zone just didn't happen in my test car, a real let down. Sometimes it takes a drive of a different car to realise how good your own car is. You forget sometimes as you're so used to it. Kev
  23. I paid £5K for my 73,000 mile 94 VR6. It too has Full VAG history and 2 previous owners. It was bought from a dealer aswell, so 9K is way way too much. I'd be very surprised if you sell it at that price. Stranger things have happened, so good luck! Kev 94 VR6
  24. Yeah the Supercharger is a bolt-on mod but the VR6 runs hot enough as it is and compressed air is hot (standard Supercharger kit doesn't come with an intercooler) too, so you end up with a heat problem. I'm not sure how the tuners overcome this but an inter or charge cooler is one way. Another way would be to rip out the Motronic and fit a DTA management system which gives you infinite tweaking and the ability to run an addtional fuel rail, sequentially. Things may have moved on now but it was certainly a problem a few years ago! Best to speak to Stealth as they have a lot of experience of forced induction VR6s. One word of caution though, Stealth don't like time wasters, they get lots of calls from 17 yr olds asking about VR6 4WD MK1 conversions and the like, the poor guys! Cheers Kev
  25. You still see people asking 10K for a Storm. That's E36 M3 money! Kev
