Had my MOT on my VR on saturday. When the guy checked the emmissions the co2 level was very very low. He said its running weak, which I don't doubt as it won't tick over at all when cold or somtimes when hot, especially when its just been started. Only thing i'm worried about is if its weak through the whole rev range because it gets hot very very fast if I give it any stick when its up to temp.

I've managed to get hold of a cheap "RACE X"air/fuel ratio guage from a friend to check it, but it has no instructions. It has 3 wires, red - power?, black - earth and grey - to lambda?? which lambda wire??

Is this a good option to try and check the car or should I try somthing else?

Good to see its running again. I have Karl's Vortech now, but it doesn't feel like 300bhp to me, felt better in his. Mine is a bit hesitant and spluttery.

I want his new engine/charger setup :D

It had a new clutch 28k ago at steath. So somone must have been slipping it nicely!

It felt as if it was spinning when it went yeasterday, but it must have been slipping.

So I should just go for a new Sachs replacement then?

Also what else could have caused this to happen?

If you get a new bottom end, I would be happy to swap your head on to it and swap the engines over...

What clutch should I go for in my Vortech charged VR?

Mine blew earlier! Was driving quite hard when it went 'bang' and I lost all drive! All gears will select fine when its switched off and it makes a nasty grinding noise when the clutch pedel is depresed.

I found it very useful when I put a vr in my mk2. Seams to cover most cars/fuseboxs in vw's.

I had no speedo when I put a VR in my old mk2. Was the earth on the plug gear box end. Had pulled out, re-solderd it and them it worked fine.

Thanks to KADVR6 for the Vortech charger. Met me so I could take it for a spin, and was very helpfull at explaining how it all goes on 8)

Hope you get it sorted soon. Ordered up a sump gasket today, so hopefully mine will be charged soon 8)

Looks sweet, surely if you got 15/20mm adaptors and had the arches rolled those wheels would fit fine with a 205 or 195/40/16 trye on?

Drove my mates 'o4 CTR and thourght it was crap TBH. Stalled it a few times because it has no torque so you can't hold it on the clutch at junctions! It rolled badley in corners and made an annoying noise! He now has a 'teg and its much better, but I still don't like the engine.
