The AAA was shipped with coil pack aswell, obviously, as they stopped the ABV when the Corrado died but the AAA continued to be built for several years. There's more than just cosmetic differences and bore size between the two engines, but it's been discussed at length previously. In all major respects they're the same, but there's lots of little changes, is the long+short of it.

Clearly Kev used to play the church organ's bass notes for a while so has no problem with four brake pedals. Or were you planning on using four very small brake pedals and pushing each one with a different toe? ;)

Since you've ruled out spark (well .. you've replaced all the relevant bits) it must be fuelling, but that sort of symptom is less likely to be lack of fuel, and more likely engine sensor issues causing the ECU to misfuel. Perhaps there's an air leak on the inlet piping, post-MAF? Could be the MAF itself, too.

.. if all the oil is up at the top of the engine, and there's not enough left in the sump, the pump's pickup will go dry, oil pressure will drop .. the light will come on .. That's all I was referring to. If the engine was going to seize, or had been seriously damaged by this incident, it would undoubtedly have done so by now, or would at least be making nasty noises.

Think it's about £20-30, but take your reg number or VIN to the dealers, cos there's a vast number of different types and you MUST have exactly the right one.

2 litres in 4k miles is a bit high useage, but not unheard of. Does it smoke? You can't really "see" the damage without disassembling the entire engine and taking a micrometer to components, so all you can do is change the oil and watch and wait. Yes, if the oil level drops really low, the pump won't be able to maintain pressure, and the warning light should come on. There needs to be enough oil in the sump for the pump's pickup to not run dry for it to maintain oil pressure. If all the oil is up in the top of the engine, then ...

Change the throttle cable. They get progressively stiffer with age, you will be amazed how much difference a new one makes.
-
The human brain/right foot can't cadence brake for each individual wheel whilst keeping the braking force on the other wheels, either ...

VR6 oil capacity is 5.5 litres, and 1 litre from min->max on the dipstick. Not good to run them low, it reduces the ability to remove heat from the cylinders, not to mention the lubrication problems. Might be a good idea to change the oil soon - what's left in there has been worked twice as hard is it would normally be so you might be running into oil sludge issues sooner than normal. Otherwise, there's not a lot you can do other than wait and see how it goes.

You might be lucky, but how many dealers actually carry parts in stock? Pretty much none, in my experience. I had to order my clip. It was about 18p. Arrived next day.

I'm sure those 500k miler R32s on ebay a while back had only had one new clutch in that time. If the engine's off, and you're feeling wealthy I suppose you might aswell replace it, and particularly if you're doing the timing chains so the whole clutch has to come off.
-
Though the EDL *is* crap, I wouldn't say it's any less reliable than any other part of the ABS system ... There is a general unreliable-ness of that particular model of valve block, but it's nowt to do with the EDL.
-
Why would you "need a new clutch" at 100k?? Unless the car has been abused I'd say the clutch should last for 200-300k. Timing chains are a different matter, but again, check it before you fork out cash. You're the same guy who asked this question on the yahoo group? You didn't provide any of that background over there!

Corrado VR6 has, iirc, three channel ABS, so it can back off the braking force to each front wheel individually. The back wheels are both eased off at the same time. Nearly as good as four channel, in fact it's 90% the way there, but not quite. Older systems were primitive like you say, and ultimately increased braking distances under certain circumstances, but at least the car behaved predictably.

Does the BMW M6 go really slowly past birmingham?

As for running engines in, there is a school of thought (who have some good points to back it up) that says a brand new engine should spend it's first 200 miles working VERY VERY HARD (once properly warmed up, of course), rather than the standard molly coddling they tend to get.. On tests they found engines treated like this had better ring seal, lasted longer, were smoother and produced more power..

I have heard that at 3k rpm on cold oil, the pressures are upwards of 8 bar, whereas, as davidwort says, even at the redline with hot oil you're unlikely to see more than 5 bar. And I've no idea what happens if you redline it with cold oil!!
-
The majority of it is about protecting the engine from excessive oil pressure. While it's cold, at high revs the pressures get amazingly high, far higher than they ever would at working temp, even if driven like a loon. The oil temp on the Corrado is a really good tool to have, but what would be even better for this purpose is to have an oil *pressure* gauge.

He doesn't know the answer, that's pure speculation ..
-
Pretty badly .. There's no side impact protection at all, the headrests are CRAP (cause more whiplash than they prevent), no airbags.. That's not to say that they're any worse than any other car designed in the late eighties though..
-
No he means full LOAD, you don't achieve 100% cylinder pressure without putting the engine under load, so you're not going to blow past the piston rings otherwise ..
-
Worst that could happen is not being able to sell it cos it smokes like a 1962 Routemaster bus on the test drive mate!
-
This question is important - cos it gives you a clue as to whether the problem is top end (££££) or bottom end (£££££££££££££££££££) ...!
-
Kinda hard to fit 288mm calipers to 280mm disks and carriers...! And, I'd be surprised if VW are stupid enough to sell new kit as refurbed. It often does go back to the factory, and it *looks* like new, but it's not.

I am glad they're not trying to call it Corrado, actually. But I agree, "Rivo" sounds shit.
