  1. So I guess I should rule out an electrical fault first. so I'm thinking fuel pump relay. Anything else electrical in line with these devices that would disrupt operation? cheers. j reg g60.
  2. Fuel pump no longer buzzes when I turn the ignition key. I have been having some running probs for the last month,i.e rough running. hesitation awful idle etc. Then the stalling stated. Now when I turn the ignition to the on position the fuel pump no longer makes the familiar whirring sound. Just in time for the Show season. So new fuel pump then I guess?! Is it a major PITA to change?
  3. Will an ISV from another VW work in a 91/92 Corrado g6o? If so what year and model? thnks
  4. Well Dan Thnks for all your help. She is all assembled and running. The awful rattling noise has gone thnks to replacing the worn tensioner but it is still idling like pooh as per my other posts.. but anyway thnks again for all your input, your help saw me through this project cheers Rob.
  5. ta,i got that one. Too be honest I think i'm all set. we shall see eh?!!
  6. I meant the IS I have used the dot (punch mark so I will go and put her together now). I'll take some spare underware down too for the moment of truth.
  7. O.k one more question b4 i put her back 2gether. The timing mark on the auxiliary. There are two marks on this sproket. A single punch hole mark and a cut out with O and T either side of it. Which one is the mark which must be in line with the mark on the crank pulley? ta.
  8. Got called out to work just got back  New belt and tensioner are on. Just trying to line up the timimg mark on the crank pulley with the auxillary shaft sprocket mark. when you put the belt over the top cam sprocket everything tends to move. shouldn't be long now though.
  9. the reason for all my pain. fanwarhed tensioner.
  10. I beat the living pooh out of the pulley and it fell off. Excellent.
  11. all the bolts are off,its just the charger/alternator pulley that I need off to remove the bottom cambelt cover. I will search for my largest modifying device. :) drive an 8mm spline in where?
  12. just read a similar thread and he resolved it by taking off the crank pulley as well as the drive belt pulley i.e removing the center bolt. Doh. Its come back to haunt me.
  13. Hi dan...i'm getting close. There is a vw rally about 5 miles from my house this weekend so I am desperate to get this damn thing finished. The crank pulley isn't moving. I guess the things get pretty fused over time, and I think my C has been neglected(Partly my fault). I guess I have to just give it some whelly. Its just that as I have it all set up for TDC I don't want it to move too much while I'm pulling at it.
  14. The ^*(*& last bolt is off. I hamerd on the closest fitting Irwin socket over the top of the allen bolt. Irwin I salute u.
  15. Ok,my irwins have arived,I only have the basic set at the moment as that is all they hadd in att. None of them seem to fit the crank allen bolts although I guess the 1/2 one is close? Do I need to have the full set of irwins or should I somehow try to force th 1/2 on. I want to get this right first time if poss. thnks in advance.
  16. Is there a risk of the bolt snapping inside the crank? I guess there must be;thats the whole point in changing it?! Hmm...
  17. I've got one more bolt off. And its stopped raining. I have ordered the irwin bolt grippers. I hope they will work on bolts of this type?!......
  18. ahh,the so called wondering bolt.!? Yes I have heard of that happening. I'm not changing it this time round. If anything else went wrong I would be forced to go and play in traffic.
  19. Yeah that one is off,i'm gonna replace all those bolts too. There rounded. :) I did that first so all the pulleys and belts held in place. I did a google on DX bolt but I didn't find it :? Its a bolt in a star configuration. Is that good or bad?
  20. ta,back out in the rain soon;luckily i have a car port. question: does the big nut in the center have to come out 2? If so I guess i can expect more fun and games.
  21. i think i have offended the gods. :? Are these irwin bolt grippers special order items? Or can i get them from a decent car shop? ta.
  22. Stuck it in 5th and got the little lady to sit in the car and squeeze the brakes. That locked the crank. Great. Got two bolts off. When doing the third one the end of my socket reducer snapped off into the end of one of my socket drive extension rod things ... My other extension drive rod is shorter and I couldn't get the proper leverage. I think I may have had it at a slight angle coz i felt that soft feeling you get when u start to round off the bolt....NOoOOOo. I think the bolts have only got a couple of attempts left in them so i think tomorrow I'm gonna get hold of an impact wrench and try to cleanly get the last two bolts off with that. I'm getting there... i think. I
  23. Nope ,put one of her front paws on the ground and tried it in 1st but still no joy. Then tried it in reverse coz i figured that as I am trying to un-do I need the resistance in the other direction,no joy. ???? How can that be if the clutch has engaged the engine? The valve cover is on but not bolted att coz I woz lining the timing mark up etc . Is it because of the lack of compression??? I gonna buy a impact wrench and a compressor if this goes on for much longer. :|
  24. Maybe I should try putting my brain in gear. Thnks DanVW for your patience,i'll try that.
