Correct... :D Over the years that I have been tuning cars there is one thing that happens time and time again. Scenario > In comes customer and says I want an engine conversion... lets use a 1.8T as an example maybe in a MK2 or Corrado.. We say yes no problem, we do the work, customer pays and leaves with 280bhp, nice, smiles all round. 6 months later same guy comes back and says I want more power, no problem I say but you will need New Turbo, New Manifold, New Downpipe, New Boost Pipes, New Intake and the list goes on. We wanted our turbo kit to be unchanged in either stage 1 or stage 2 setup so If our customer came back for more power there was no money (or very very little) wasted in what he had already spent. 15 or 16psi boost will see 440-450bhp on our turbo but we strongly reccomend you go for a fully built forged engine. If you look and one of the dyno graphs posted earlier you will see a MK2 VR6 T that makes 448bbhp, this engine / turbo has 16psi, uses head spacer and ARP Headbolts and Conrod Bolts and has been for about a year or so, it is as strong now as it was when I first mapped it. Now the way I look at it is, you the customers are the boss, within reason we can tune your engine to meet the power you want. We can only advise on what we think is best, my reccomendations are below (some may say conservative?) Stage 1: Head spacer + ARP Head Bolts (inc in stg 1 kit) 360bhp Stage 1 Plus: Head Spacer ARP Head Bolts + ARP Conrod bolts 11-12psi. 400bhp Stage 2: Full engine build with forged rods and pistons 400bhp upwards. -

Traction on the cold damp wintery roads is a big problem, yes 360bhp is alot of power but this is the lower end of what this Turbo kit can do. About 8 or 9 years ago I put a racelogic traction control system on a VR6 SC Golf. It was brilliant, comes as standard with launch control too. I think I will have a play with one of these kits in the near future. Modern day power deserves modern day electronics. VAG fit it to nearly all of their current production models, it does make a big big difference more so than any LSD out there. The best diff in the world won't stop you lighting up both tyres in a straight line, Traction control will! Possibly cheaper as well? Check out this link for info http://www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=Tracti ... on_Control Kris you are welcome anytime pop over and have a visit, we can sort the bits on your car and you can check out the VRT -

is that an offer :D, if so when i come down for a remap ull have to take us out Yes for sure, that is why we bought our own C, it's what's it's there for. Also a very sneaky way of me getting my own Corrado VR6T 8)

at the min im in 2 minds in which way to go turbo , supercharged I think a test drive of each may make your mind up for you 8)

Slight Correction If you have older Corrado / Golf with hotwire MAF then stage 1 360bhp kits will retain this. For stage 2 kits I'm working on a new MAF. For Later Corrado / Golfs OBD1 and OBD2 with Hotfilm MAF's you will automatically get a free upgrade to 4" MAF Tube, this MAF tube will also be suitable for stage 2.

Hi Perksy At the moment all the kits will be fitted in our workshop, 2 reasons for this. Firstly it's early days, we just want to ensure all installs fit perfectly, if there are any problems then we can overcome /correct them in our workshop. This may not be so easy for a DIY fitter? Secondly, hopefully you will have noticed that our fitted price is very good? Trust me when I tell you that if we were to count up all the hours it takes to fit the kit + the cost of the bits it would come to quite a bit more than £4400. So the deal is good. Therefore that leaves me with a bit of a dilemma, yes sure the DIY kit will be cheaper but at the moment costing the kit this way is my problem. As things progress this may change but at the moment I can't give you any dates or prices. I hope you understand? Vince

I've driven both setups quite regularly (on different days though) and thought it is hard to tell the difference too. Maybe track conditions would see the 288's fade sooner? It's hard to say... Good quality pads and good brake fluid can make all the difference... Four pots are great but can give a long pedal that does not inspire confidence even though the braking effort is very good.

[quote The main reason I've spent so much is due to bad luck more than anything. If you remember, I lost a 'built' engine almost immediately after it was started due to bore scratching and then not long after that was sorted, I lost a turbo from something getting sucked through the filter (which is why I no longer use cotton gauze filters!!) I'm also a fussy bastard and tend to buy the brand names too :D For someone who has had so much bad luck I never seen anyone as determined and focused to carry on and get his car just right. Hats off to ya Kev  The install Kev has done on his car is superb, so good infact that a lot of professional companies out there including ourselves would be proud to put our/their name to it. Good Job Kev! As for being a fussy bastard, yeah I will go along with that but why not, the passion between men and motors will never die. That's why we are all here isn't it?? -

Thank You for your positive comment. There are possibly many factors here and yes the stock manifold could be one of them. Vince -

OK Last set of power Dyno Plots This is how NOT to turbo a VR6, the turbo is so small that it almost becomes a restriction in the exhaust system once the rpm's start to climb 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfHow not to turbo a VR6 power.jpg[/attachment:oogpg9e1] How not to turbo a VR6 Torque.jpg[/attachment:oogpg9e1] -

Stealth Corrado Turbo (Blue) vs Jons Corrrado Turbo (Purple).... This car is OBD2, short runner, customers own DIY Install and Stealth Remap. In my opinion this turbo is slightly too small just about peaks at 15psi but can't sustain it. Spools very fast and possibly into gearbox breaking territory?? I had some fun with a camcorder while remapping this one 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfStealth vs Jon S Power.jpg[/attachment:3uw3bv1i] Stealth vs Jon S Torque.jpg[/attachment:3uw3bv1i] -

OK this one is our Corrado Turbo 9psi vs Golf MK2 VR6 Turbo OBD1 (Hot Film MAF), 15Psi Boost, Short Runner Intake. The MK2 has the pretty much the same turbo as ours except a 0.82 Exhaust Housing....(ours is 0.68 Hot) I only Tuned this car for the owner as fitted all the turbo kit himself . Funnily enough we are fitting a turbo kit this week in a MK3 VR6 OBD2 with the same Turbo that is in that MK2. I'll Let you know how it turns out. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfStealth vs 0.82 Hot - Power.jpeg[/attachment:17pf0u0d] Stealth vs 0.82 Hot - Torque.jpeg[/attachment:17pf0u0d]
