  1. Found these readings on my 92g60 setting 2 - what do they mean? 1. = c10. 2. = 450 - 470 (flunctuates) 3. = 800 - 830 (as above) 4. = 0.3. 5. = 0. 6. = ---- 7. = 17 cant find them mentioned in the vw handbook?
  2. Thanks for the reply dannyboy - i must be checking the voltage incorrectly - the electrical conns are well sealed - i have disconnected the brown and white connection blocks , turned the ignition on (did not start the engine ) set the multimeter to 20 volt setting and tried to take a reading through the block tterminals and all i got was 0.4? What vacum leaks should i be looking for (what is the most common) i checked the hose at the ecu and where it passes around the bulkhead sections are frayed but the rubber seems intact - i will order a new one at the week end) many thanks
  3. Hello - i have been trying to get my 92 g60 to run correctly - i changed the usual blue stat which made a big difference but another point is baffling me - i vave been told to check if there is 12volts across the fuel rail to which there is not. - does anyone know what causes this and how to cure it - thanks ger040
  4. Took some advice of here about my corrado not running correctly and one advice was to change the blue temp sensor (supercharged) - i ordered the parts (inc housing) and what a big difference it made - car now idles and revs freely , fuel consumption is also reduced - just why is this sensor so important ? What exactly does it do - iam just interested to know. The only thing now is the temp gauge on the dash does not work - is this the black sensor beside the blue sensor ? And should i replace it also many thanks for the advice guys and no doubt i will be calling on you again as i get the car roadworthy and saving money too
  5. Hello i have posted before about my car just out of storage and is not running correctly (corrado g60) - exhaust if continually steamy - smells of fuel and the fuel consumption is excessive - today while moving it the idle went to about 1500 and stayed there and there was a hesitation as if the car was about to backfire when the accelerator was pushed! supercharged gave helpful advice and much appreciated one item that he recommended that i check was to see if 12v was available across the fuel rail - i have checked this with max reading 0.7? i hope iam doing this correctly as the connectors at the fuel rail are well sealed (brown and white plugs - i did also disconnect them tested them at the terminals and again there was no reading. all this was done with the ignition live but no engine running. if there is no reading is this an ecu fault - do i need to find a replacement or where else can the problem lie?
  6. I got hold of the multimeter and tried testing the fuel rail - both plugs (brown and white) are well sealed and i am afraid of damaging them - i tried to pin them but these things are well sealed and i am not to sure even if i am making the connection to the cables - the max rerading i got was 0.8v ? - i will try again tomorrow with a bit more daylight - if this is the case and the reading is only 0.8 is this a new ecu ? thanks for the info supercharged your help is well appreciated
  7. Thanks for the reply i will start with the least expensive items first with regards to checking the voltage to the fuel rail i would assume this is the brown connection with red /yellow wires - how do you check the voltage here? - i can get hold of a multimeter i will order on saturday a new temp sensor and housing from the local vw dealer. with regards to the cat convertor i plann to change this anyway as the exhaust is pretty knackered and i have managed to get hold of a genuine centre box at good money and i am looking for a new rear box (my dealer quoted over £200.00 for this and this was at trade price!
  8. I have taken my corrado out of storage and am about to start puting it back on road - once i got it started everthing seemed ok but after a couple of hours running i noticed the following 1. The temp gauge does not work and i noticed the flange connection on the cylinder head is leaking badly - i think i seen this somewhere before which causes the engine not to run correctly. 2. Fuel consumption is excessive - an hour at idle uses approx £5.00 of fuel !!!. 3. Steam constantly pours from the exhaust even after an hour but the car uses no water? The exhaust is quite fumey and smells of petrol. I bought this car ayear ago and the previous owner said that the car has sat for approx 2 years any pointers on what the problem can be will be appreciated thanks
  9. My central locking has stopped working - i think i seen this before is it called comfort module? if so where is it located - iam about to replace a faulty window regulator on the drivers side - is it located here ? and i will replace it at the same time - thanks ger040
  10. thanks for the help much appreciated - thought this was going to me another fortune !!!
  11. Hello is it just coincidence on my g60 the abs was faulty (the light would stay permanently on) with the ignition on but the other day while cleaning the car i lifted the rear spoiler manually by the switch but suddenly it stopped stuck in the upper position but then i noticed the abs light had gone out now permanently - i can still feel the click at the brake pedal - surely these can not be connected electrically ? or is it just bad luck that is going to cost me more money to repair?
  12. can anyone help - my vw dealer (or vw stealers as they are known) does not want to know - i am putting a 92 g60 back on the road and this weekend i attempted to look at why the electric windows wont work - i can hear clicking when i push the switch for both windows - so i took off the door panels and there is not a lot you can see - i noticed on the passenger side a fine stainless steel cable ? loose - i pulled it and eventually came out with a frayed end?. i moved to the drivers door and it was the same a stainless steel cable with a frayed end but even better there is a piece of wood which one moved the door glass fell !!! but i managed to prop up again - what parts do i need so i can go to my local dealer (stealer) gsf or euro car parts if they can supply them. any info or help will be appreciated.
  13. i have got my corrado now going but i have noticed a problem with the gearchange - if iam quick with the gears instead of engaging first i sometimes engage reverse - ouch! - the gear box itself is fine with no noises or crunching when engaging gears just generally slack - do i need a new cable arrangement or is there an easy or cheap way to rectify this - thanks
  14. could you forward your postage details for the door handle repair kits - would a postal order be alright for payment as i have stopped using paypal
