  1. There's a mystic blue storm on autotrader, on an N plate, 96,000 miles for £5450 if anyone is interested. The link to it is: Sorry, I don't know how to make the link into one word! Link here Mod Edit: Sorted link for you. VR6
  2. I'm going to look at a VR at the weekend, and I keep reading about the Serpentine (sp?) belt. What is it, were is it located, and how do I know if it is knackered? Any help on this would be very much appreciated. Cheers.
  3. It does look very smart Jim, from the photos I have seen both of the car, and of cars of the same colour. The guy sounds 100% genuine, and has agreed to give me first refusal on it, due to the delay at the weekend. Will, 17 and insuring a Corrado, even in the states thats got to be mega bucks! You must have done some serious haggling to drop the car to half price! Fair play to you. I think the 93 does sound better, it has lower mileage + all the extras I wanted, Leather, air con etc. It's weird, I'm looking forward to just seeing the car. I really wished I had one this morning, I had some smug git in a 530 Beemer totally waste me on a dual carrigeway.
  4. Doh! The guy was called away to an emergency meeting at the last minute on Saturday, so can't go to see it until next weekend. Well they do say good things come to those who wait.
  5. The exterior colour of the car, gives the impression that it would have grey leather I think.
  6. I have to say, I wasn't to taken by the colour in the photo of the one for sale, but that one looks very smart indeed! I can't make out the colour of the leather of the one i am going to see, but I hope it's not grey, which I suspet it will be. I'll just have to see tomorrow.
  7. Not sure on the colour of the leather to be honest, I'll take a look at the pic in a bit, see if I can make it out. What sort of money is it to get the air con re-charged?
  8. How about this one? 1993(L) VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO Vr6, 92000 miles, £5,500, ice grey violet, ABS, Sunroof, CD Player, Air Conditioning, Stereo, Electric Windows, Alarm, Power Assisted Steering, Alloy Wheels, Remote Central Locking, Electric Mirrors, Immobiliser, Leather, K&N induction kit, FSH non VAG, specialist garage, (recommended VW garage) HPI clear. I think this one sounds better, and exactly what I want.
  9. But, the Fiat is pretty damn ugly if you ask me.
  10. Where else should I look then, I've tried Exchange and mart, autotrader, find it, fish 4, but the only one with anything decent is autotrader.
  11. I will definately be getting some sort of inspection done, even if it's an AA one, but I'll probably go down the route of an MOT. I've seen another one on autotrader, which I think is the same spec, but higher miles, for £4250. I may hold out for one with the spec that I want though, no point in rushing these things. It is a dealership in Oxford selling it, and they look fairly reputable. Desicons Desicons!
  12. Thats what my thinking was as well Josh, I'm a bit paranoid about going for one with 100,000+ miles. I don't know why because my MKII GTI has 150,000 with no history what so ever, and is still going strong. I think it's because it's such a big expense if something goes wrong, whereas on my golf it's not gonna cost loads. The guy gave me all the salesman BS over the phone, "You'll have to put a deposit down, it'll sell quick" God I hate that! Hope the one you look at is a gooden mate!
  13. Confused now, Josh says it should have a full vag at that price, implying it's expensive, and Dan says it's cheap?!?!
  14. Probably going to look at this on Saturday, the only thing it hasn't got is leather, which I really wanted. 1994 VW CORRADO VR6 2.9 Litre engine, 3 door, Coupe, Blue Metallic, 93000 miles, CD Player, Sunroof, Alloy Wheels, Central Locking, Alarm, Power Steering, Mileage Verified, Immobiliser, Electric Windows, HPI Checked, inc Guarantee, Possible Part/Exc., Finance Available. Power Assisted Steering, Tinted Glass, 5 Spoke Alloy Wheels, CD Tuner, Electric Sunroof, Alarm, Remote Central Locking, Immobiliser, Electric Windows and Mirrors, Service History £5000 No photos unfortunately, but the guy says it's very tidy.
  15. That is a lovely motor you have there anorak, but unfortunately I'm after a dark coloured one, as everyone I know including my missus, who have owned a red coloured car has had it written off, or nicked. With a car like that I can see thieving little scum bags sniffing around alot, and with the power it is kicking out I can see me going a bit crazy once to often. Saying that though, what do you mean by arrangement?
  16. I think I'll have to have a look at whats around, and go from there. The only prob I have now is selling mk MKII! The trade in price if I but from a garage will probably be shocking!
  17. Fantastic, that what I wanted to hear. Now to decide wether to spend 5g's on a good one with lowish mileage, ore 3.5 on a good one with high mileage + 1500 on mods?
  18. Thanks for the input guys, very informative. I have to say, I was looking for a C before I got my Golf, and i drove a couple of 2.0 + 1.8, and I wasn't overally impressed. I'm not saying I didn't like them, very nice cars, but for me to own a C is to have a VR or G60. As insurance wasn't "permitting" shall we say, I went for a MKII instead The question I really need answering is will a VR with over 100000 miles give me major problems? My golf for example, had no history when I bought it, but it drove really well, and I took a chance on it. I did all the servicing work on it myself, and it's knocking on the door of 150000 miles now, and the engine is still incredibely good, (and the fastest 8v I have driven to date.) Is it likely that a well maintained VR will go on to these sorts of miles? Cheers again for the help guys, you've been extremely welcoming! PS, I found the insurance to be very reasonable on a VR, 4 yrs no claims, no cons, kept on driveway, cat 2 immobiliser, Fully comp £640 ish, and TPFT £550 ish!
  19. The car looks familiar VR6, so I think that it was yourself. Thanks again. Thats excellent pringles, cheers for that. Is mileage a problem though, thats the biggie fro me, as I do a fair few miles, about 18000 a year, so is one with 100000 + gonna give me major problems? How strong are the engines? Thanks again guys.
  20. Cheers pringles, much appreciated.
  21. Hi guys, as you can see I'm a newbie here. I currently own a MKII Golf GTI 8v, but want something quicker, so I am looking at getting a C VR6. I got the details for this forum from the Club GTI website, so thanks to whoever pointed me in this direction. Onto my point, I'm looking at a VR, and can afford about £5000, is that gonna be enough to get me a good one? I'm obviously not expecting perfection here, but good perhaps? I have seen a few that look really nice, but they are upwards of 100k miles. What problems would I expect to encounter on a VR of that mileage, anything serious? I'm not to worried about small problems that I could do myself, but big things that should of been done maybe that haven't? Anyway, thanks for reading, and I look forward to the replies. Cheers
