Breaking - '96 Blackbery VR6 Auto - *UPDATE 2* (first page)
petemcr replied to StueyB's topic in Cars for Breaking
Hi fella, Don't suppose you still have the indicators at all do you? If so how much would you want for them? -
hey guys, As per the title, is anyone breaking a C at the moment or have a set of late style indicators around they're selling? be a great help to get the girl through an MOT this coming month. Thanks.
-
Hi, Do you still have the Electric Window module at all?
-
getting a little side tracked here guys :lol::lol: What kind of prices are we talking here about these blocks (not the tables), also info on the condition, turns out I've got some bottom end damage on my project, wouldn't mind a block to get worked on install my rebuilt head on to so it can dropped in.
-
hahaha damn, was worth a shot I guess, I've always fancied one of them tables, don't think the Mrs will allow though, something to do with the von sway or something
-
Only if you throw in that doggo teddy! then we've got a deal :thumbleft:
-
Hey guys, Just thought I'd ask, does anyone have a VR6 Bottom, just looking for the bare block that's in good condition, if anyone has a 2.8 that would be even better. Thanks
-
Thanks for clearing that up fella, loads of posts I'd ready said it should twitch but I don't remember it doing anything when it was on the road. Cheers
-
Hey guys, So, can someone clear this up for me, I keep seeing cars with the yellow high beams and I've found out looking around they're French ecode lights with yellow cap bulbs, but it's always on American sites and asking if they work on NA (which I assume means Northern America). What's the deal with these? They look great, but by the sounds of it you need french headlights, does this apply to English headlights? Cheers

He guys Quick one, I was reading that if your RPM needle doesn't move when cranking over the engine that it can be the sign of a failed crank sensor, anyone got any more info on this? I've tested resistance on it and it came back with the right resistance but there is deffo no movement of the RPM needle when cranking Cheers in Le advance

Hey fella, how much of the front indicators? both sides if you still have them
-
So, could someone just verify something for me as I've not driven the car in over a year, when you turn the ignition on you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime shouldn't you? and the 109 relay should click?
-
It has since I first got the car, been a mess in terms of the alarm and immobilizer, to the point where it came with a fob, that could arm the alarm which was a Gemini unit, but didn't do anything with the central locking and wouldn't go off when you opened the doors, had a leaflet with the car for a Thactcham 2 alarm, which doesn't exist, I hate 90's alarms. Kicker of it all is, I'm going to be removing it and then when she's back on the road, more than likely, be getting another one fitted but I need to get it removed first so I can sort out a running issue. One circuit was isolated as well, one located behind the dash and they had cut the wires back pretty far, so a full length of wire had to be replaced, so I'm expecting the same. So much joy, would be nice if I could just be happy with my Golf instead and just sell the Corrado on but I can't bring myself to do it.
-
I have seen the rats nest of wires pushed back behind that fuse box already, not something I care to go disturbing but I guess if I have to I have to, I'll see how it goes finding this cut wire and if no joy then I will prepare for the battle ahead
-
I'd planned to take the dash out anyways to try and locate where they've cut the loom so if it's still not having it then I might try and source a new loom, which will be fun in itself
-
Can anyone tell me, if worst comes to worst and I'm sure it won't get to that, but is it possible/fairly easy to swap out the loom that will no doubt be done for? Thinking worst case scenario
-
Cheers for the info, This is partly the problem, some work had been completed before this happened tbh so it was having starting issues, but you can tell there's nothing getting power so it's probably going to be best to get this sorted first and then when I know everything is working again can look at other issues. Thanks for the info though, I've been told it will more than likely be behind the dash somewhere but also told it could be down the side, again I didn't remove it so I had no idea where the wires went, tempted to get an auto spark to have a look but I know it will cost me if I go that route.

Hey everyone, Is there any one here who knows about after market fitted alarms from back in the day, my Corrado was fitted with an after market alarm, I can't tell you what make it is, I have a picture of the box that was fitted if it helps, but I lost the key for it a while back, the car hasn't been on the road for a while so I had a friend who's "thactham approved" try to remove it. It's seriously a mess now, managed to get the normal electrics sorted so the sun roof/dash/usual stuff now comes on, partly caused by a dicky ignition switch which I've replaced, but now when you turn the key on it doesn't appear to prime the fuel pump and no voltage to the ECU by the looks of it, 109 relay is working but I've ordered a new one just to be on the safe side. Anyone know where they would have cut in to the loom to stop this, the ignition live at the fuse box had been cut, pretty sure it's thatcham so there must be another cut somewhere.
-
Steve, what are you doing!!
-
Cheers for the info fella, I was debating it myself but I hate wiring. Did you do the 24v conversion then? Did it all go smooth or was there problems? Cheers
-
Hey guys, Sorry, I know this has been covered but I couldn't find the information in the 24v thread, but can anyone tell me the company who will do the loom conversion, I believe you can send the VR6 loom and the 24v loom off to them and they will do all the wiring for you. Cheers

Has anyone seen this before, Intermittent wipe and first fast wipe not working, but then top setting does work fine? Fuuuu electrical gremlins :bonk:

So by the responses there are a few who use their C's as daily's, but for most they have some kind of practical daily and just have the C as a weekend fun car. I have to admit it has been nice being able to get over speed bumps without having to slow to a grinding stop and up setting other drives behind me, but the thought of selling my Corrado just doesn't seem possible, I've done too much to it now, moon roof, climate control... fixed the damn spoiler so it works correctly, would be a massive shame to sell it. Never been such a true statement, I miss getting thumbs up off people who appreciate the car, a lot of people in my work want to see it once it's back on road as well
-
Well, it's funny because I have been toying with the idea now of keeping the Golf, in an ideal world I would have both, but I was dropping off my girlfriend and I happen to come across a Corrado, and I'd been telling myself how good the Golf looks but seeing a C sat there look lowered, I instantly wanted to drive mine. Plus, I'd been using the Golf for a bout 4 months and was storing the Corrado, then I decided to move it and I thought here we go, it will feel terrible now... but once I started it and heard that exhaust tone... just didn't feel like it would bother me all that much reverting back. God help me if I do and my girlfriend finds out you can only use one window at a time, that's going to bring up a discussion :D I don't think the Golf has that much more than the C as well, bar a few little things that I doubt I'd miss, auto wipers (rarely work right and find myself manually turning them on), auto dimming mirror and a few other bits and bats Guess I'll have to drive the C again and see how it feels, maybe I'll sell the Golf and get a practical car like Jamie to make the C feel even more fun

Hey guys, Wouldn't mind seeing what peoples opinions are on this, hopefully someone may have had to do similar and give some advice So, I had a Corrado VR6 for about 3 years, utterly loved it to bits but had to take it off the road as the headgasket went, I went out and replaced it with a MK5 Golf GTI, with aspirations of going back to the Corrado, and when I first got the Golf I was disappointed due to the fact that it felt slower than the Corrado, now my Rado is very close to being back on the road and I'm debating if to keep the Golf and spend some money on it, or going back to the old girl Anyone had to do this, go from a modern car with some nice features back to an older car?
