  5. I'll drop you a PM to discuss details. :)
  6. It's had the same work as the head described on the first page, but it's a very late VR6 12v head. Late casting number and was described as a Schrick. All the ports and valves are the same size as a normal VR6 although the casting looks much cleaner. It has a Coilpack cam cover. The only thing to mention, being a late head it has a SAI port on the front, but these can be blocked off with a specialised plug for around £30 but loads of US boys use a core plug for a few quid.
  7. Thinking of selling the other head here. Not got around to fitting it yet and contemplating another direction with the car... Anyone interested?
  8. I always do stupid amounts of research when buying anything, especially a car; it's not always a good thing! I will indeed keep this thread updated though. That's my issue. This hasn't been an easy choice. I think my deciding factor is that I've reached saturation point with the Corrado. I want to keep going with it, respray so I'm 100% happy, new trim at the same time, a big fat turbo and 450bhp.. But when is enough, enough? I've put so much into the Corrado that I just won't get back, not just financial either, it's a bit illogical to keep going with it. Now a Porcshe or something, maybe I could go on for ever with that? But maybe I'll never be happy, who knows. All I know is I have an itch I need to scratch. I know exactly what you mean with the E46, my dad had one from new and when I drove it for the first time, my gt feeling was 'disappointing'. Don't get me wrong, it was a great car, but far too easy to drive; all I wanted to do was cruise around in it, I wasn't inspired. On the edge though, it was awesome, but I'd kill myself driving around like that all the time. If I was going for a Z4 it'd be the Alpina Roadster S, in black. It's the only soft top I like over the coupé. When I was about 20 and they were brand new a friend who worked in a BMW dealership brought one home and gave it to me for an evening, I fell in love with it and I've always had a huge soft spot for them. Cayman S are not for me, never been a fan of them or the Boxter. 968's are meant to be a better drive too. I'd love a 964 but they are out of budget now. 993's are my worse 911 so couldn't do it to myself. The rest on the list are too practical and I'm not a Merc man. It's a tough choice.
  9. Seen all those, that first modded one is tasty and a good price, but the interior re-trim isn't to my taste, prefer the standard alcantara trim. All colours are nice though, think I prefer the silver or red because the roof stands out and makes it different and desirable from the rest. All they need is a re-map, blow off valve, sports cat/exhaust to get 270bhp / 290 ibft and I'd be done. Very much so. Story of my life and the beautiful women once in it. :bonk: I thought the S50 was a E36 M3 engine? Need to do my research I think.
  10. That's the plan.. E46 M3 engine, right? This is my concern. I love the Rado more than anything else I've owned. It won't actually be up for sale until I get my new car either and I may even persuade my other half to keep it, who knows? I won't be looking until April time, one more pay day and a short holiday then I'm seriously looking, I don't think it'll be a quick purchase with the type of car I'm after either and I am in no rush. I expect it'll be months and months of searching. Your thoughts pretty much mirror mine with my choices, although 968s are just as cheap/expensive as 944's to buy and run. The Alpina Roadster is more of a personal choice when the first came out after driving one for half a day. The 8 series and M635csi are wildcards, great cars in their own right, tick all the boxes, but I'm not sure if I'm feeling them as I have no prior experience of them. The TT QS 240 is the top of the range, future classic, very special and the one to own. Although the V6 is probably up their it's not in the same league and a bit ordinary. Interesting, sounds my cup of tea. I'll drop you a PM shortly as I'm in no real rush and will wait for the right car.
  11. That Sir, is a great argument.
  12. Don't fancy any left hookers :( Thought about Mercs and also Masarati's - Just seem a bit mid life crisis / grandpa cruisers to me. Always loved the Z4's since new, I really wanted one.
  13. I would love a 964 but they are 20k minimum now with prises steadily rising. So a Elise is gonna have to be an S2 and even then it's pushing it a bit. you just confirmed my concerns. Yeah, I've had a look, I know they are basically the same, but i'm a snob and it's still a Vauxhall. :smug: Yeah, I had a think about these and I'd kill myself. So I'm out. :bonk:
  14. That was my initial concern about the Elise, the ride and comfort. Sheffield roads are horrific and I mean embarrassing to the point I've thought about moving cities purely because of the roads. Plus 4 hours down the M1 in an Elise, would that be too unbearable? The Audi Quattro is one of the all time greats, daily use and old cars don't scare me as it's not a true daily so I don't relay on it and I'd buy a good one or not at all, plus I'd make sure it was as reliable as the day it came out of the factory. Parts are an issue I suppose, but research and finding solutions is my thing - note taken though. M3's I'm unsure about at the moment. My dad had a E46 from new so I know they tick most of my boxes, but they are at that age where they are too old to be desirable by most but too new to be sought after classics. They are cheap, depreciating fast and getting into unsavoury hands - For me it's the wrong time to buy one. E36 M3's however are just starting to come out of this awkward stage, all the bad ones are dropping like flies and prices and popularity are on the rise again. But in all honestly, I'm not so sure if they are right for me at the moment. RS4's and fast Audi's, other than the TT's don't appeal right now, too sensible and practical; there will come a time where I will need that and can only have that, not for now though, whilst I have the chance to go silly I will.
  15. So, I've been into VW's since I was 17 (now 30) and in all honesty it's time for a change, not just VW's but FWD too. I've had Corrado's for around 4 years now and although they are awesome, timeless and special cars that tick most of the boxes, it's time for a change. My next car will be my daily in all intents and purposes meaning I might pop to the shops in it, do the 20 minute commute in rush hour or travel 300 miles to see family. But I do so little mileage now I might use my car realistically once a week, sometimes less, I just don't rely on my car anymore. So I can justify something naughty and something magical I can get in and just drive somewhere nice for the sake of driving - possibly even do the odd track day. It needs to be something timeless and special, a modern classic or classic and has to be a drivers car. Something of an investment which ever way you want to decipher that. I'm not interested in practicality but semi-comfort and the odd mod con wouldn't go a miss. I don't want a balls out track car but likewise I'm not really interested in a fast saloon or estate; I will have my time with them when I get a family and for now I can and will have something silly and impractical. I have a 10K budget give or take a few thousand with a contingency for a bit more for the right (read unicorn) car, Ideally around 8-12k so I have a few thousand to play with for upkeep. The car can be an awesome standard car to keep standard or something which can be modified (nothing silly, think more OE+). I play with my cars and will continue to do so, whether that be modifying or restoring/maintenance. Thoughts so far: Porsche 944 Turbo Porsche 968 Sport or CS BMW Z3M Coupe BMW 850i / Ci BMW M635csi Alpina 3.4s Roadster Audi UR Quattro Audi TT Quattro Sport 240 Elise S1 / S2 111s Not really interested in any Evo, Impreza or Skyline, S4 / RS4, S2000 etc. You get the picture. So, anything tasty I have missed from the list?
  16. Does the colour match to the rest of the green illumination on the dash?
  17. Not at all, I can't remember who recomended it, I want to say Kevin. But old VR's love it, I know that. I've been running it for years now with only one side effect. It's quieter. I use the Castrol Edge 10w60 - used in BMW M engines. It's fully synthetic so I think it's a little thinner anyway.
  18. Old thread! Might as well update it. Since this thread I've changed the water pump, the auxiliary tensioner, FPR and injectors - all made a huge difference to running sounds. I ended up putting the suspect noise down to a worn tappet and just the VR normal sounds. I now use 10w60 oil and it's nice and quiet now. No smoking at all or suspect noises, spark plugs are always nice and clean upon removal and the car goes like stink.
  19. MK4 rear calipers have a thread pitch of either 10x1 or 10x1.5 I remember when doing research that there was no defined answer to which calipers used which thread. Luckily for me my hoses came with a set of each thread. For what they cost you're best of getting both sizes.
  20. ABS Pedal position sensor and ABS System Loom still here.
  21. Since it's a Yorkshire meet can we all dress like traditional Yorkshire men and drink tea? Would be great for photos and get one in the next calendar.
  22. Hey you guyssss.. I'm after a OBD2 Solenoid Valve for the charcoal canister, looks like (blue thing in the middle of the photo with the green plug): Although the OBD2 valve should be black, part number: 058133517 I think mines stuck open. Can you PM me please.
