coullstar 0 Posted November 25, 2004 I am looking at a set of wheels 7x16 with an ETof 42. They are off a Vauxhall. Has anyone run this size offset on thier car? I was thinking that the wheels might actually hit the shocks. I realise that it is easy enough to get spacers but it would be good to know anyhow. What is the centrebore on the Vauxhalls? I think they were on a Corsa.
hutchyvw 0 Posted November 25, 2004 Off the top of my head its 56.6 but i'll check the guide when i'm back in the office. even if they don't rub the shocks i'd want spacers on coz they'll sit too far in :| hutchy
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 25, 2004 That's the standard VR6 offset, so they should go on OK without hitting the struts. They might rub on the inner arch on full lock a touch though. Stick some 5mm spacers on to be safe. If the Vauxhall CB is larger, you'll need some plastic spiggot rings, but VW CB is 57.1mm normally.
coullstar 0 Posted November 25, 2004 VR6's have a slightly wider front track dont they though? I have a suspicion that the Vaux is smaller.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 25, 2004 They do have a wider track but they compensate for that buy making the offset deeper. It's worth a go without spacers just to see what happens! You should be able to get Centre bores bored out in a machine shop, you're only talking a mill or so, so won't affect it's structural integrity. Just depends how much you like these wheels I guess. daves16v 1 Posted November 25, 2004 My OZ's are 7x16 ET37 and they sat too far in for my liking. I've got 5mm spacers on now.
hutchyvw 0 Posted November 25, 2004 The centre bores definitely 56.6 so it'll need to be bored out to 57.1. if your any where near manchester or bolton i can put you intouch with a place that'll do it for you mate. hutchy.
