Timing Chain (Help spend my money)

Well finally bitten the bullet getting booked in for the timing gear replacement. Third major trip to the garage in as many months of ownership. No Christmas for me this year.

 

I am looking for advice on what else to replace while the C has its engine and gearbox out. I have asked for the following,

 

Clutch

Rear Engine Mount

Gearbox Mount

 

What else can you advise to do at the same time.

with a blank cheque available, I would have the gearbox reconditioned and the diff. rivets replaced with bolts. There are those, (one in particular, notably absent lately !!!) who would add a limited slip differential.

Thermostat housing and stat? Assuming they've not been done.

With a blank cheque available I'd be getting the work done at Karmann, using brand new original parts all round.. ;)

Sadly only blank cheques i can find are rubberised. Thanks Dr Mat, forgot to ask for that one, id have to check the paper work but i believe it has been replaced earlier in its life, no harm in doing it again.

Replace the upper tensioner pad and tensioning bolts with MK4 / 98 MK3 items.
