kongo127 0 Posted December 7, 2004 It started today... The fuel pump is very noisy all the time. :( And the car is always pinking even with these low temperatures! For the first time i though it could be because of cold temperatures and somehow freezed or anything else. But i was wrong... It´s continuous. Is it repairable? Is there any kit available? Or the only thing i can do is to buy a new one? As i´m runining a 3.5 fpr and SNS stage II kit should i upgrade it? :?:
G60Jet 1 Posted December 7, 2004 buy a new one and the sender kit for it, VW only part iirc, but i think G-werks will get one for you
Supercharged 2 Posted December 7, 2004 It's a sealed unit, get a new one asap, the last thing you want to do is run a G60 lean!
kongo127 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Oh well... The fuel pump just died last night. The car doesn´t start anymore and i can´t hear the pump starting when i turn the ignition on. The fuse is ok, so i guess i really need a new unit. Where´s the best buy? These are the prices available in Portugal for the original Bosch Part # 0 580 453 914 ... VW Dealer - 300 Eur Bosch Dealer - 200 Eur Scarp Yard - 120 Eur I´m looking for a better price pherhaps in UK :? Any ideas?
Supercharged 2 Posted December 10, 2004 I'd go to the Bosch dealer then - by the time you've paid £70 over here then vat then postage it will be about the same...
kongo127 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Yeah, i guess that´s the best thing i can do... Though there´s Mr. Fuel Pump from USA that can supply me the same unit for only $155 USD delivered. But custums have a big lag here, and they will charge me for VAT too...
kongo127 0 Posted December 11, 2004 The Bosch seller asked me if my car has 1 or 2 fuel pumps. What a question... :? Do G60´s have more than 1 pump? I´m confused...
Supercharged 2 Posted December 11, 2004 1 unit - not sue if there is a lift pump inside it tho... If its dead anyway I'd take it out and get them to match it...

Tempest 0 Posted December 12, 2004 There was a difference in fuel pumps for G60 Rados, from 10/89 onwards (that would apply to yours), the fuel pump is one large unit that sits in your tank, accessible after removing the cover plate inside your boot. There was a thread here some time ago (here) on fuel pumps for later G60s. Tempest

markmcie 0 Posted December 13, 2004 Having the same problem myself. The pump has become noisy over the last few weeks. I have a J reg '91 G60 and was wondering if anyone could tell me which pump I need cause I would like to replace it before it packs up and the car is off the road. @ bigpants baby, Ill take one of those VR6 pumps if it will suit my car. markmcie 0 Posted December 14, 2004 So can anyone tell me if te VR6 pump will suiy my G60 ? @ kongo, did u notice a drop in MPG when the pump started to act up. Mine is using a lot of petrol these days.
Joe M 0 Posted December 14, 2004 VR6 pumps are practically the same as the G60s, though the sender for the fuel gauge may be different. If bigpants baby includes the sender then they will drop straight in.
kongo127 0 Posted December 15, 2004 So can anyone tell me if te VR6 pump will suiy my G60 ? @ kongo, did u notice a drop in MPG when the pump started to act up. Mine is using a lot of petrol these days. I haven´t notice no mpg change... What i noticed was that the car was pinking all the time, and that horrible noise from the pump... I have just replaced it this morning! The car is back on the road again! :D Thank you very much to all of you guys! 8)

kongo127 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Yeah... me too! :? I just wonder why the car keeps pinking... :| I´m sure that all hoses are well conected (no leaks between hoses/pipes). Double checked the pump part-number and it´s correct (4 bar output). I haven´t change the timing, neither the CO2 Pot. I´m running 98RON with 8º deg. Any ideas? 8)
Supercharged 2 Posted December 18, 2004 Mine pinked at anything more than 7 degrees and that was set up on the hotest day this year...
stevemac 0 Posted December 19, 2004 I´m running 98RON with 8º deg. Any ideas? 8) Too much advance m8. Re-set it to 6 degrees advance, run it for a while & if the pinking stops, set it to 7 degrees. If it pinks at 7 degrees, put it back to 6.
