Keep the white sheet as it's a diffusing filter and helps to spread the light out evenly rather than concentrating it in the middle...

I used a new sheet of polarising film 'cos I couldn't be bothered getting the sticky stuff off...

I used a single sheet of Red lighting gell (from Maplins) for the illumination. If you wanna go blue I'd advise using an LED as blue light filters will make the LCD very dark and require a VERY bright bulb to make it work properly...

maybe mine is special being that its a 90...

it doesnt reverse the lcd so that when you look straight at it its like normal. If I look at it at an angle it will reverse the lcd's, I set up the lights to light up but the reversing of the LCD's doesnt happen, I am going to take a LCD setup off of a 91 and buy my own polarized plastic because I already own red acetate filtering and experiment with it.

I took the gray piece of plastic with glue off of the back and put the polarizing filter where the grey piece was, this is incorrect right? I should put the piece of plasic on the front where there is a thin film of something correct? first remove that film then put the piece of polarized plastic on?

I did this on Sunday night, you need to remove the top bit of film - its on the very front of the screen. then actually turn it over so the side that had glue on faces you (away from the screen).

If the screens are not working than I would check the bits of pink rubber are flat and touching the contacts on both the pcb and the screen. Also check you have them in the right sides (the bigger screen only has one side with contacts, the bottom).

hth

P.s what are people using to get the blue? mine is rather greeny blue but the red has worked a treat

@ Flusted. I would say that the pink rubber bits are in the wrong way round or not touching the contacts correctly. Try lightly pushing the screen down and see if anything comes on..

I think the white plastic bit only fits one way round on the mfa, so if you haven’t touched the pink bits (oh er!) the it should be fine... You should be able to see if they line up, on the glass of the screen you will see lips with really faint contacts, the pink rubber things are just conductive strips the connect to the printed contacts on the board.
