gradeAfailure 0 Posted July 28, 2005 Keep the white sheet as it's a diffusing filter and helps to spread the light out evenly rather than concentrating it in the middle...
GIXXERUK 0 Posted July 28, 2005 the white sheet doesnt make much difference tbh , i used electrical cleaner spray to get the glue off but i imagine wd40 would work ,you just have to keep rolling it off http://www.oichan.org/mods/lcd/lcd2.htm
A20 LEE 0 Posted July 28, 2005 i used white spirit

H8RRA 0 Posted July 29, 2005 what do you use to cx the colour - i want to cx mine to blue
Henny 0 Posted July 29, 2005 I used a new sheet of polarising film 'cos I couldn't be bothered getting the sticky stuff off... I used a single sheet of Red lighting gell (from Maplins) for the illumination. If you wanna go blue I'd advise using an LED as blue light filters will make the LCD very dark and require a VERY bright bulb to make it work properly... potatonet 0 Posted July 31, 2005 you know I have had nothing but problems with this kit, I am going to get the kit again and try it on another piece of glass, nothing works! the polarizing plastic goes on the back right? well it didnt work for me.... it really dim now. talked to ahn at DDI and he sent me another piece, different direction polarization.... nothing. maybe mine is special being that its a 90... GIXXERUK 0 Posted July 31, 2005 potatonet, is it dim at night mate or during the day ? i wired mine to an ignition live so it lights up during the day , otherwise you couldnt see it
potatonet 0 Posted July 31, 2005 it doesnt reverse the lcd so that when you look straight at it its like normal. If I look at it at an angle it will reverse the lcd's, I set up the lights to light up but the reversing of the LCD's doesnt happen, I am going to take a LCD setup off of a 91 and buy my own polarized plastic because I already own red acetate filtering and experiment with it. potatonet 0 Posted July 31, 2005 OMFG I DID IT WRONG! the instructions said to remove the piece on the back!
GIXXERUK 0 Posted July 31, 2005 hopefully you can sort it now then bud mine looks like this , the background is black to the red lcd but the camera makes it look red'ish ,crappy pic tho
potatonet 0 Posted July 31, 2005 I took the gray piece of plastic with glue off of the back and put the polarizing filter where the grey piece was, this is incorrect right? I should put the piece of plasic on the front where there is a thin film of something correct? first remove that film then put the piece of polarized plastic on? GIXXERUK 0 Posted August 1, 2005 plugged everything back in mate ? does the top light work ?
sciroccotune 0 Posted August 1, 2005 I did this on Sunday night, you need to remove the top bit of film - its on the very front of the screen. then actually turn it over so the side that had glue on faces you (away from the screen). If the screens are not working than I would check the bits of pink rubber are flat and touching the contacts on both the pcb and the screen. Also check you have them in the right sides (the bigger screen only has one side with contacts, the bottom). hth P.s what are people using to get the blue? mine is rather greeny blue but the red has worked a treat
potatonet 0 Posted August 1, 2005 someone make a video please, and post it on google video or something were all messed up on this one!
flusted 0 Posted August 2, 2005 All my lights are working but no digi display, ive only done the mfa one.
sciroccotune 0 Posted August 2, 2005 @ Flusted. I would say that the pink rubber bits are in the wrong way round or not touching the contacts correctly. Try lightly pushing the screen down and see if anything comes on..
flusted 0 Posted August 2, 2005 ive give that a go.how can you tell if they are the wrong way round?
sciroccotune 0 Posted August 2, 2005 I think the white plastic bit only fits one way round on the mfa, so if you haven’t touched the pink bits (oh er!) the it should be fine... You should be able to see if they line up, on the glass of the screen you will see lips with really faint contacts, the pink rubber things are just conductive strips the connect to the printed contacts on the board.
