Strange dash lights, whats going on?

Ok, so if i have the head lights off, the dimmer switch fades the light Ring around the headlight switch.

And it doesnt always fade the dash lights when the headlight are on, sometimes only when the engine is off or just ignition??

 

And the brake warning light stays on VERY faintly after taking the handbrake off?

 

And the heater controll back lights only work when they want to?

 

Whats going on??

Ill try to explain it a little better, if i start the car, and the healight switch is light up, the dimmer switch will DIM the actual switch, but if i turn the car off, but leave the keys in the ignition, the dimmer switch THEN dims the dash lights?

could be the headlight switch on its way out.................they are known to be a bit on the fragile side..............as well as the expensive side :roll:

it does have a crack on one corner of the switch!

is that not for the early ones tho??????...............as i know only too well that late ones are now over £50(which is slightly more palatable than the £70+ they originally were)
