slot 0 Posted July 27, 2003 i have recently fitted a ecotek valve to my 2.0 16v after not being overly imprest on massive gains as claimed i gave them a call ,only to be told my c's ecu wanted reseting by leaving the battery disconnected over night does this guy know what hes talking about or what??? i was under the impresion my c's mecanical fuel injection and ecu's are not involved??? :?: :?: :!: :?: :?:
vr6storm 0 Posted July 28, 2003 i think its only the 1.8 16v thats mechanical fuel injection urs is AFAIK electronic Fuel injection..........as for re-setting the ecu i'm not too sure if that would make a difference to the ecotek or not

Scott 0 Posted July 28, 2003 2.0 16V is indeed electronic - disconnecting ECU for an hour wont hurt so give it a try....
G60Jet 1 Posted July 28, 2003 2.0 16V is indeed electronic - disconnecting ECU for an hour wont hurt so give it a try.... It wont do jack as the only C with a ECU memory is the VR6 AFAIK

My gut instinct is that they're a load of old rubbish and the only thing they're good for is seperating you from your hard earned cash! BUT I have seen them endorsed by none other than a certain Vince of Stealth Racing, held in high regard round these parts as a man who knows a thing or two about VWs. (The Ecotek website even shows Vince with 2 ecotek valves fitted to a VR6). Has anyone actually spoken to Vince to find out the truth about these things? CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Total waist off time ,letting air into your intake on over run !! what bhp and mpg gains will you get out of that? !!!! :? Another cleverly marketed gadget that does F**k all
davidwort 0 Posted October 10, 2003 ah what!, you obviously haven't read the marketing blurb properly, these things are a revelation  I guess it might be possible that on some cars an air leak in the manifold could fool a simple ecu system into altering the fuelling, but what you've got to ask yourself is 'if it's that good why don't race cars or manufacturers fit them as standard' - after all, they spend milions on R&D to improve power and efficiency on engine design. I have to agree, I wouldn't waste my money on one, IMO 50 quid spent on a rolling road session would be much better for optimising your engine. David.
