Gear knob

Recommended Posts

Hi

Changing gear last night and managed to do this (see attached).

Buying a replacement from VAG/GSF etc and need to know what parts are included and will they fit OK e.g. nothing is missing from the picture that is required for fitment.

Sorry if this seems a little random!

Andrew

Rieger Etc do some very nice OE-looking knobs with integral gaitors in a range of colours for about £50.

They're very good quality and look like modern OE stuff. I haven't wired mine in, so it doesn't light up, but apparently if you do, they look very tasteful (i.e. not chavvy bling).

Just a thought ;)

Yip.. the Rieger gear knob / gaitor combo is very nice. I'll nip out and grab a shot of mine - alas its not bright enough to show up in the day so I can't demo that bit :)

Here ya go. Yes its on a MK4 Golf but, you get the idea.

Looks very very OE and not at all chavvy when it up at night :)

*edit*

Ooh.. found a previous night shot of it which i've attached.

Doesn't the picture and accompanying description in my signature give the game away at all? ;)

The same knob can be bought and installed in the Corrado though.. and it looks just as good. You can choose between 5 and 6 speed, colour of illumination and colour of the stitching!

I had forgot how nice those reigers look - fifty quid tho :? must resist!

the gaitor is 121.03 + VAT lol

£50 is a bargain if you need a new gaitor tho... ;)

Failing that, if you do need a new gaitor, I've got one you can have for £10 posted :)

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to doing anything on my car.. my proudest achievements have been fitting a new throttle cable and a new heater fan motor on my G60! So, as dinkus says, if we can do it then you definately can!

well thats settled that then. I bought a knob from vw but it was the wrong colour leather. there was a choice of 4 knobs. It's now sitting in Sciroccotunes rado!

I suppose I'll need a load of stuff off zarman to match the reiger knob.

Yay. Here's to spending MORE money...... :drinking:

I've also got a red reiger one in H-YYU... 8) they really are a piece of p!$$ to fit... If you're stuck on where to connect 'em to, feed the wires up behind the fag lighter and you can power it off the illumination and earth for that VERY easily... ;) 8)

GPC do genuine VW leather ones for around £20 IIRC... Got one from them at Inters last year for J-DUB... 8)
