right guys my womans got a G reg 16v Rado. It's been regulary serviced and has a nice History section on the book :)

 

As ive.. well my girlfriend.. has just taken ownership of it, i think its due for a bloody good servicing.

 

As in more of a MK4 polo guy, could you guys post a sort of list of things that will need doing and what needs buying so I can get it sorted by a mechanic mate.

 

I aint taking it to VW, as they ripp the P1ss with their prices.

well if it was mine i would get the following done(unless there was documented evidence of this being done prior to you buying)

 

Timing belt(Very important and only use a genuine VW belt),

Oil and Filter change,(genuine VW filter too)

new spark plugs,

new fuel filter,

new air filter,

coolant change.

as above

cam belt tensioner

injector sleeves and o rings(usually cause trouble and cheep to do)

alt voltage reg...restores full power in most cases for £12ish

dist cap & arm

 

id also advise looking into making heavy duty batt/alt cables and headlight relays..makes a huge differance

cherers for the info guys, I found the sticky as well so im sorted now. Off i go to VW's parts desk with me credit card :shock:
