Air Con???

Recommended Posts

Doesn't having your window open effectively sap more power (aerodynamically) than a a/c compressor does?

Apparently not :)

I saw a test of 2 identical cars go round a test track at the same speed, with the same fuel loads

One had aircon turned on, the other had his window down. The aircon cooled car ran out of petrol about 30miles before the other one

This was on Mythbusters on Discovery

Still, I'd rather have aircon on a hot stuffy day! But days like these are rare in the UK

My G60 (1991) has air con however i don't think it works anymore so the chap i bought the car from can't have used it very much!

I'd like to get rid of the system to be honest, then i'd have room for an intercooler!

And my a/c caused JMR all sorts of problems when he fitted a 68mm pulley and didn't have the correct size of belt (he didn't know because i never told him about the a/c so he had to find a belt that fitted on a saturday when everywhere was shut!)

I don't think the a/c is worth it in a corrado, especially not up here when there's never any need for it other than the odd day in the middle of summer!

Was thinking about aircon today when stuck in my mums stuffy landrover. Might look into it when i've got some more cash.

When the cooling fans kick in do any of you find a slight jolt similar to the aircon coming on - at either of 95 or 105C? (directed of course to te aircon-equipped crowd). I do but i dont know if this is normal. The diverter flap under the fresh air iintake also closes at cooling fan speed 1 & 2. Intersted in your comments. Cheers
