vr6storm 0 Posted January 8, 2006 harry, do you know if it is on its original timing chains & tensioners?! Now that's impossible and you know it! not unheard of tho  ................VW reckon the timing chain should last the life of the car............i know of one VW head mech and one VW specialist who also think this

CorradoWannabe 1 Posted February 27, 2006 harry, how much did you pay for it? 300,000 miles? My millage of 230,000 sounds like nothing in comparison! Good to hear they are good up to that sort of millage - really eager to know how much it set you back.
harry 0 Posted July 25, 2006 So here we go with some gen... Car had 2 VW service history books filled in. Managed to get most invoices sent from Vindis who did all the work from new. Head gasket, chain and tensioners done at 210k Clutch at 257k It's had a history of coolant loss, heater matrix changed, carpet stained a bit green, but doesn't lose fluid now. I've had to change a few bits and bobs....rear disks/pads & front pads, & try to sort out slight miss-fire. Can't work out why the alarm works (closure & sensors) but the siren not working. Any ideas? Interior come up fine with some elbow grease. Will try to include pics. Cost me £2k, spent probably £800 on parts & help with miss-fire. Phil K 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Nice one fella! Had forgotten about this thread! I'm glad it's all working out well and hasn't been the money pit people were fearing! Would love to see some pics of it now... as for the alarm - have you tried wiring the bell direct to a 12V feed to check it works? It could be as simple as that :? harry 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Thanks. This may be the problem...but can't seem to be able to see the alarm siren...Where is it??? :( Ta.
was8v 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Sounds like a good buy if it's not burning oil and the gearbox aint too crunchy. New suspension, bushes and a bit of paintwork and it will be very nice I suspect! re missfire - probs coilpack/leads/plugs, the latter 2 may need changing anyway? see if anyone has a known working coilpack and try it, or they come up on ebay cheeeeeep sometimes.
